INVESTMENT BANK
Is a Business Activity in which a Company Purchases Newly issued Securities, such as Stocks, and Bonds, from Businesses and Governments. Such a Company is Called an “Investment Bank”, then resell the Securities to Individual Investors in small Qualities. Thus the Investment Bank helps Large Borrowers raise Money Quickly and Efficiently by taking over much of the Job of Marketing the Stocks and Bonds that are being issued.
Without Investment Banks, Businesses that Lack Experience in doing so would have to Market their own Securities.
Investment Bankers also advise Businesses in arranging Corporate Mergers and acquisition. Investment Banks do not accept deposits from the Public or make Loans to Businesses or Individuals.
Investment Banks buy Securities at a Slightly Lower Price than they Expect to Sell them for.
To avoid a risk of Making Losses or Losing Money; a Business or Government sell it’s Securities to the Investment Bank for Less than it Might get for by Selling them directly to the Investors.
How to Use Money Wisely
- Many of us are the working poor, others are struggling to get out of debt, and some are just looking for ways to make an extra cash to use it for something worthwhile. The solution to our problem is right before our yes, right in our bank accounts. I know what you are thinking; there isn’t hardly any money in my bank account. But there is, it’s all in how you use your money.
If you save wisely you can have extra money after each day, week, month and year. It’s easy, all you have to do is budget, and save the right way. The first thing you and or your mate need to do is sit down together and create a budget for the week, month, day and year.
How much do you want to spend on food, or on buying miscellaneous items a week? Once you set the budget and use it for a week or so look for ways you can make it tighter if possible. Now remember part of saving money involves sacrificing.
Sometimes in life you have to give to get. If you want good things you have to work to get good things. Which means you have to give up some of the things you want. With your family make a list of the things you need and you don’t need. Like this below:
Needs - Wants Food - Dining Out on Restaurants Clothes - Name Brand Clothes
Family participation is very vital if this is going to work. Let everyone decide what they can give up that they don’t need and in the end you or and your husband will be the one to make the decision of what’s going to be cut out. Stress to everyone why their cooperation is needed and the benefits of a self sacrificing spirit.
Become a savvy shopper. Look for deals and bargains when your grocery and Clothes shopping. Shop at wholesale stores.
These places sales goods in a quantity at discount prices. If you don't time things right and plan ahead, you can wind up paying a fortune on school supplies. Here are Some tips for the budget-minded consumer on how to save money while buying school supplies for your kids.
Tips to Save Money
1. Use cash instead of card. You will always be tempted to buy more when you pay by card; but when you hold the money in your hands, you'll be more realistic when it comes about spending.
2. You should always leave on your card 20% of salary, without spending a cent from this amount. Call it whatever you want: an emergency fund, S.O.S money or the saving drop; keep these money for black days, in order not to be constraint to barrow from others.
3. Think about funny things to do at home. Instead of watching a film to the cinema or going out for weekly activities, try to hold a party at your home. Your friends will be delighted to bring snacks and cookies or something to drink in exchange for an evening of fun.
4. Do you remember where the kitchen is? If not, then rediscover it. Buy foods that you need and prepare your meals for work. You will spend less, having also the certainty of a healthy meal.
5. Pay first the utilities. Don't spend your money on something else until being sure that you pay the phone and all the other bills.
6. Saving money can be a challenge. Take it as it is! Learn to enjoy it at the end, organize yourself and try to invest in truly valuable things.
Using your money wisely
Are you constantly finding it difficult to make ends meet? Do you find it difficult to afford those extra little luxuries we all desire? Perhaps all you need is some simple helpful advice on how to control your spending and focus on ways to save money by cutting down on unnecessary expenditure and not throwing it away on things you don’t need.
You can manage and save your money more efficiently by planning and sticking to a weekly budget. Keep a strict account of all your bills and put money aside for essential items such as food, mortgage, telephone bills, electricity, gas, car running costs, holiday savings, meals out and other unavoidable expenses.
save any loose change you have in a jar. It’s surprising how quickly it mounts up and comes in useful for buying presents and any other occasional expenses that you may not have planned for.
Avoid keeping too much money in your cheque account. Use it mainly for paying regular bills, not for saving money. That’s what a bank or building society savings account is for. So any excess money in your cheque account should be transferred to a savings account on a regular basis.
Preferably one that offers the highest interest rate. The biggest obstacle to saving money for the things you want in life is being in debt! Always start by paying off your debts first, or in the case of a mortgage, reducing your repayments by finding a better deal.
If credit card debt is your major problem then consider transferring your outstanding balance to another credit card company offering a lower interest rate. There’s a number of credit card companies which are currently offering 0% interest on balance transfers. By comparing rates and transferring your outstanding balance to one that offers the best deal you can save money on the interest you pay each month.
Steps to Achieve Your Dream
“Vision is the spectacular that inspires us to carry out the mundane.” Can achievement be broken down into steps? It isn’t always that clean and easy, but those who achieve great things usually go through much of the same process, with many of the items listed below as part of that process. So if you have been struggling with achievement, look through the following. Begin to apply them and you will be on the road to achieving your dream.
5 Steps to Achieve the Life You’ve Always Dreamed Of
Step 1: Dream it. Everything begins in the heart and mind. Every great achievement began in the mind of one person. They dared to dream, to believe that it was possible. Take some time to allow yourself to ask “What if?” Think big. Don’t let negative thinking discourage you. You want to be a “dreamer.” Dream of the possibilities for yourself, your family and for others. If you had a dream that you let grow cold, re-ignite the dream! Fan the flames. Life is too short to let it go.
Step 2: Believe it. Yes, your dream needs to be big. It needs to be something that is seemingly beyond your capabilities. But it also must be believable. You must be able to say that if certain things take place, if others help, if you work hard enough, though it is a big dream, it can still be done. Good example: A person with no college education can dream that he will build a $50 million-a-year company. That is big, but believable. Bad example: That a 90-year-old woman with arthritis will someday run a marathon in under three hours. It is big all right, but also impossible. She should instead focus on building a $50 million-a-year business! And she better get a move on!
Step 3: See it. The great achievers have a habit. They “see” things. They picture themselves walking around their CEO office in their new $25 million corporate headquarters, even while they are sitting on a folding chair in their garage “headquarters.” Great free-throw shooters in the NBA picture the ball going through the basket. PGA golfers picture the ball going straight down the fairway. World-class speakers picture themselves speaking with energy and emotion. All of this grooms the mind to control the body to carry out the dream.
Step 4: Tell it. One reason many dreams never go anywhere is because the dreamer keeps it all to himself. It is a quiet dream that only lives inside of his mind. The one who wants to achieve their dream must tell that dream to many people. One reason: As we continually say it, we begin to believe it more and more. If we are talking about it then it must be possible. Another reason: It holds us accountable. When we have told others, it spurs us on to actually doing it so we don’t look foolish.
Step 5: Plan it. Every dream must take the form of a plan. The old saying that you “get what you plan for” is so true. Your dream won’t just happen. You need to sit down, on a regular basis, and plan out your strategy for achieving the dream. Think through all of the details. Break the whole plan down into small, workable parts. Then set a time frame for accomplishing each task on your “dream plan.”
Step 6: Work it. Boy, wouldn’t life be grand if we could quit before this one! Unfortunately the successful are usually the hardest workers. While the rest of the world is sitting on their sofas watching reruns of Gilligan's Island, achievers are working on their goal—achieving their dream. I have an equation that I work with: Your shortterm tasks, multiplied by time, equal your long-term accomplishments. If you work on it each day, eventually you will achieve your dream. War and Peace was written, in longhand, page by page.
Step 7: Enjoy it. When you have reached your goal and you are living your dream, be sure to enjoy it. In fact, enjoy the trip, too. Give yourself some rewards along the way. Give yourself a huge reward when you get there. Help others enjoy it. Be gracious and generous. Use your dream to better others. Then go back to No. 1. And dream a little bigger this time!
31 Things That Happen When You Finally Decide to Live Your Dreams
How you see yourself has fundamentally changed, and that’s why this time you will succeed. You’ve been thinking about this for a long time, haven’t you? You’ve reveled in shallow friendships, numbed yourself in trivial distractions and justified low-living for long enough. You’ve tried convincing yourself—to no avail—that you’re not the person you can’t seem to escape. Over time, you’ve disconnected with your environment and relationships. You’ve started, little by little, to be more authentic with yourself and the world around you.
What took years to hide only took a moment of honesty to recover. And now, here you find yourself, on what feels like the edge of a cliff. Looking out. You’re terrified of what might happen if you allow yourself to go there. Will everything fall apart?
You’re tempted to turn around and go back to the lie you’ve been living. Where it’s easy, convenient and less demanding. You’ve done it so many times before. So why is this time different? This time is different because you’ve caught on to the fact that there’s really nothing behind you. It’s all nonsense. At this point, going back would be more painful than the unknown before you—no matter what that might be.
Related: Stop Making Excuses for Who and Where You Are So actually, you can’t go back. How you see yourself has fundamentally changed, and that’s why this time you will succeed. As Zig Ziglar tells of his friend Tom Harmon: “Tom recognized that the image of himself had shifted. Despite the fact that he still weighed more than 400 pounds, he no longer considered himself fat.” Here’s what you’ll find after you take the leap.
1. You’ll see “it” everywhere. “Our eyes only see and our ears only hear what our brain is looking for.” —Dan Sullivan Once you commit to living your dreams, the lids blinding your eyes will be lifted. A completely new world will be opened to your view.
You will notice opportunities that have been in your reach all along, ones your conscious mind simply didn’t pay heed to.
From a psychological perspective, your selective attention will zoom-in on what you want in microscopic detail. All other sensory inputs will be outsourced to your subconscious and forgotten. The fundamental change taking place is your self-identity. This is the point of no return. Once this shift has happened, your whole world changes.
Nothing becomes impossible to you. Your only limitations are your consciousness, which is quickly expanding. Whatever you want quickly becomes yours because you see what most people don’t. Now that you can see it everywhere, you are sprinting.
2. You’ll have boundless energy, fueled by purpose. After you’ve crossed the threshold of decision, you will find a new wellspring of energy—one that appears to be infinite. You’ll no longer need to rely on willpower. Willpower is garbage. It is for amateurs. It’s for people still conflicted about what they want to do. Once you’ve moved beyond will to why, you no longer have to coax yourself into action. The decision has been made. Your internal resolve and zeal trump external stimuli—no matter how difficult. Rather than focusing on defense against further damage, you’re on the offense, sprinting to the top of your mountain. From your perspective, you’re already at the top
3. You’ll learn, grow and understand quickly. Once you’ve made the leap, you’ll have a thirst for knowledge, wisdom and understanding. You become both student and teacher. You will become a sponge, soaking up everything you can, creating loads of neural connections and schematic networks. You’ll learn the left-brained logic and rules so your right brain can have limitless freedom to break the rules and create. With enhanced consciousness, time will slow down for you. You’ll see things in several more frames than others. While they’re trying to react to the situation, you’ll be able to manipulate and tweak the situation to your liking. You’ll make connections others don’t see. As a result, you will cement your knowledge by generously sharing it with others. The teacher is always the one who learns the most. So you will teach and share abundantly. You will experience far more joy seeing others benefiting from your teaching than by experiencing success yourself.
4. You’ll apply what you’re learning. Thriving is all you understand anymore. Mediocrity is a mismanagement of your innate human potential. As a result, you are constantly applying new information to accelerate your progress. You’re a scientist of life, experimenting and trying new things. When something doesn’t work, you don’t persist. You cut your losses and move on, detached from the need to be right. Instead, you want to progress and understand and serve. Humility is your banner.
5. You’ll realize all of your previous fears were unfounded, thus allowing you to embrace future fears. Someone who has gone from overweight to fit understands the process. It’s now logical to them. Similarly, a person who has learned how to make millions of dollars understands the process. The magic is gone. Theory and experience are two completely different things. But the person who hasn’t yet reached their goal is still clinging to often highly ambiguous theories. The process doesn’t make sense.
There’s still doubt about whether things will actually work out. But when you fully commit to your path, you are freed from this dichotomy. Like Tom Harmon, you’ll have a completely new self-image. In your mind, you already are where you plan to be. When the why is strong enough, the how is easily found. So you don’t worry about it anymore. You see fear as part of the process, as a signal you’re moving in the right direction
6. You’ll stop worrying about—and instead anticipate—the future. “Your future is as bright as your faith.”=Thomas S. Monson Once you’ve made your decision, you have nothing to worry about. You are a magnet attracting nothing but brilliance. Every day is a step closer to your ideal than the last. The future is only getting better and better. You are in creation mode.
You’re no longer chasing happiness. Happiness is within. You have embraced who you are, so you’re not trying to compete with some external indicator of success. You know success is inevitable because you’re in alignment. Every day your external world more closely matches your internal reality. As Dan Sullivan said, “You can have everything you love in life as long as you give up what you hate.
7. All of your needs will be met. “Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation): that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.” ―William Hutchison Murray Beyond your point of no return, luck and miracles become your norm. All of your needs are met—be they material, financial, intellectual, spiritual or relational.
The right people will come into your life. You will have enough time and money to get moving. The right books, articles and audios will find their way into your life at just the right time. You have become a vector for everything you need to accomplish your task. Don’t question why—just gracefully, humbly and gratefully receive.
The shocking truth is that receiving is far more difficult than giving. Receiving, at a conscious and evolved level, is your purpose. The universe wants to give you everything as soon as you are ready to receive. You will be given everything you need when you need it. And you no longer question that fact. Here you are
8. People will enter your life to help you.
“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”Unknown When you are on a dedicated mission, people will come to your aid to help you make it real. This is the essence of Seth Godin’s book Tribes. When you are ready to go, here’s what you will find: Mentors who will teach you and radically accelerate your progress. Fans and supporters.
Students who want to learn.
Haters (these are just as necessary as the others who enter your life). Your relationships are by far the most important aspect of your journey. You will begin attracting the right people in your life when you start doing the work/.
It begins with initiative and openness. Once you’re ready to learn, you’ll have teachers. Higher up the mountain, your work will attract the very people who will help spread your message and forward your cause.
9. You’ll have bouts of doubt, but they won’t last long.,
From time to time, even after countless pieces of evidence that you’re on the right track, you will be tempted to revert. Doubts will creep in. You’ll question everything about yourself and what you’re doing. You’ll go through periods of time without success. Things will appear to be falling apart. This is a crucial part of the process. Indeed, far more fundamental than what you do is who you become. Growing in consciousness and progressing as a human being is intended to challenge you to the core. Most people take the path of least resistance and this is not that path. Living your dreams is not a “cheap experience.” It is supposed to require some effort, something from the depths of your soul.
So even when you’re tempted to quit, you will dig deep. And if for some reason you decide to quit, that will haunt you until you rectify that decision. As Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. said, “A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” You can never go back to the way things once were, even if for a time you pretend to.
No matter how devastating your doubts, you will eventually regain the hope you once had. But now it will only be stronger and more solidified.
10. You’ll feel inclined to do things you never considered before. You are no longer rigid in your thinking. You’re open to whatever you feel inspired to do, even if—in the moment—it feels extremely uncomfortable. You no longer operate based on how you are feeling in the moment.
You expect to be inclined to do things yourself and others might be uncomfortable with. You are completely open. You are moving. You no longer stall or question when you get a prompt. You respond immediately and automatically. And when you act on these impressions, you never regret it. You only regret when you don’t act, and are left to wonder what might have been. The more open you become, the more you find yourself in places you never thought you’d be. But you don’t question why, you just keep going. Along the way, you “connect the dots looking backward.”
>11. You’ll see past the broken approaches most people take. The conventional approach is broken. Most people haven’t committed to what they feel they should be doing. They remain unaware of who they are, what they stand for and who they are becoming. They are living in fear and confusion, simply waiting to be told what to do. They want the easiest path. They are following dogmatic assumptions. Even worse, most people will go against their own values to fit in with the crowd. One of the most famous psychological experiments—the Asch Experiment—discovered that people will conform even when it’s obviously the wrong decision. But when you’re liberated from conformity, you quickly discern more effective and efficient approaches. This comes from making connections others either haven’t made or are too afraid to make.
12. You’ll progress quickly at anything you undertake. Carol Dweck, a Stanford psychology professor, has revolutionized our understanding of intelligence. Most people are taught that intelligence is fixed. Either you have “it” or you don’t. However, Dweck redefined intelligence as a fluid and flexible entity where the most resilient come out on top. Those with this “mastery” approach, who seek learning with an intrinsic desire to improve, are the people who become the best in the world at what they do. Success is not born; it is made.
Once your decision has been made, you’re no longer restrained in your abilities. Instead, you are enhanced and consecrated in your performance. Where most people rely solely upon themselves, your abilities are channeled and heightened by a source beyond your own.
13. Nothing will seem impossible to you. “You need to aim beyond what you are capable of. You need to develop a complete disregard for where your abilities end. If you think you’re unable to work for the best company in its sphere, make that your aim. If you think you’re unable to be on the cover of Time magazine, make it your business to be there. Make your vision of where you want to be a reality. Nothing is impossible.” Paul Arden Believing something is impossible is arrogant.
It was arrogant of people to believe we’d never fly. It was arrogant of people to believe we’d never put a man on the moon. It was arrogant of people to believe we wouldn’t have satellites in the sky guiding global communication. We don’t know what we don’t know. Why put a cap on what’s possible? Why live in the past? Anything and everything could happen. And being open to that fact allows you infinitely more options than those who put an invisible barrier on possibility. Without question, you must believe what you’re doing is possible. As Napoleon Hill said, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Related: Do These 30 Things If You Want to Be Unstoppable
14. Luck/miracles will become commonplace. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in cause and effect.” Similarly, Bruce Springsteen said, “When it comes to luck, you make your own.” Dan Sullivan said, “Luck and God favor those with good habits.” When you decide to live your dreams, you expect radical and amazing stuff to happen. You don’t define what that must be; you simply trust that things will work out. Your daily habits regularly attract beautiful things from the outside world.
Some will call you lucky. Others will call you blessed. Whatever the case, it’s your new normal. 15. You’ll have little interest in what most people are entertained by. “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.” —Eleanor Roosevelt Beyond your point of no return is freedom—freedom from triviality and mediocrity. No longer will you be able to engage in gossip or other destructive activities. These things simply don’t make sense to you anymore. Your entertainment is learning, growth, connecting deep rather than shallow, and grand adventures. Since you no longer limit what you can have in life, you regularly travel. You regularly meet new and interesting people. Even the small and simple things become significant and allow you to be fully entertained with a few moments of thought by yourself.
16. You’ll live holistically. “When a man makes his thoughts pure, he no longer desires impure food.” —James Allen After you’ve had a radical shift in identity, you realize that human beings are holistic. When one area of your life is out of alignment, every other area of your life suffers. And you’re increasingly aware when your top priorities are being neglected. You protect the essentials. Furthermore, when you improve one area of your life, you grow in all areas—you are the system. Consequently, every small and incremental victory you experience creates a surge of momentum toward your ultimate ideal.
17. You’ll no longer fear success or wealth. The most crippling and pervasive fear is the fear of success. Many people genuinely believe success is a sin, or that it’s not intended for them. But once you have a compelling vision, you stop focusing on yourself. Money is simply a means to an end. Money is a tool. Not only is your success inevitable, it’s essential for accomplishing what you feel inspired to accomplish. 18. You’ll no longer fear “losing it all.”
You are already complete. No form of success or failure will change that. Consequently, you’re no longer attached to your reputation, accomplishments or possessions. If all of it was somehow lost, you’d have complete confidence that you could continue moving forward. You’d adjust and continue to expect the universe to conspire for your good
. This perspective allows you to be more authentic and free. You’re no longer trying to please everyone around you. You are going to do what you believe you should regardless of the outcome. If things fall apart, you don’t perceive it as a negative, but a positive. As Ryan Holiday wrote in The Obstacle is the Way, “There is no good or bad without us; there is only perception. There is the event itself and the story we tell ourselves about what it means.” Related: 4 Ways to Turn Obstacles Into Opportunities
19. You’ll consistently do what’s right, even when it’s not popular. Most people can eat healthy for one day. Most people can be positive for a few minutes. But when things stop being fun, most people’s resolves crumble. Not you. Not anymore. Consistency is the evidence of belief. Zig Ziglar used to tell a story of traveling one day and not getting in bed until 4 a.m. At 5:30 a.m., his alarm went off. He said, “Every fiber of my being was telling me to stay in bed.” But he had made a commitment, so he got up anyway. Admittedly, he had a horrible day and wasn’t productive at all.
But he says that decision changed his life. As he explains: “Had I bowed to my human, physical, emotional, and mental desire to sleep in, I would have made that exception. A week later, I might have made an exception if I only got four hours of sleep. A week later, maybe I only got seven hours of sleep. The exception so many times becomes the rule. Had I slept in, I would’ve faced that danger. Watch those exceptions!” Similarly, Harvard business professor, Clayton Christensen said, “100 percent commitment is easier than 98 percent commitment.” When you justify incongruent behaviors once, you open the door to a lifetime of justifications.
20. You’ll have more responsibility. Spider-Man’s Uncle Ben once told Peter Parker, “With great power comes great responsibility.” Unfortunately, he had it backward. The constraints of responsibility force you to think more creatively. Responsibility qualifies you to show up at a higher level.
Hence Benjamin Franklin’s saying, “If you want something done, ask a busy person.” The president of the United States doesn’t have responsibility because he first had power. Rather, he has power because he assumed a huge responsibility.
Most people avoid responsibility. They’d rather someone else carry the load. They’d rather not have to deal with the consequences. Fear of failure (i.e., their ego) stops them from trying in the first place.
When you start taking your dreams seriously, you will not initially be qualified. But as you take on greater responsibility, you’ll become qualified to do what you need to do. You’ll grow into your responsibilities and have increased power and influence. Taking on the right forms of responsibility can put life on easy mode. It’s like injecting yourself with motivation steroids—urgency and desperation.
When you’re desperate to be healthy, you eat right and exercise. No excuses. When you’re desperate to be successful, honing your craft is far more appealing than mindlessly surfing Facebook.
21. You’ll often be questioned and criticized for what you’re doing. When you begin living your dreams, you will often receive unsolicited critique. If something is noteworthy, there will be haters. As Robin Sharma, author of The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, has said, “haters confirm greatness.” When you really start showing up, the haters will be intimidated by you. Rather than being a reflection of what they could do, you become a reflection of what they are not doing. This isn’t about you. It’s about them and their own insecurity. But the majority of people will support the hell out of you. Most people are inspired when someone lives their dreams.
22. You’ll often be misunderstood. By nature, having a sense of vision is weird to most people. Being real and authentic is weird. It’s unusual and it’s rare. It’s peculiar. And many people will misunderstand you. A lot of people won’t get what you’re about or why you’re doing what you’re doing. Most of them mean well. They simply don’t get it, and are afraid of what they don’t understand. Others will understand you. They’ll support you and cheer you on. Don’t take these people for granted. You need them more than you know.
23. You’ll stop caring about what is just and fair. Social exchange theory is a psychological and sociological perspective on why people do what they do. Essentially, people only engage in activities and relationships that benefit them. If an exchange isn’t perceived as fair, the relationship ends. Consequently, people are seen as purely self-motivated in all they do. But there is a four stage hierarchy of motivations that allows for the possibility of genuine altruism. At stage one, you are motivated by fear: living on the defensive to avoid punishments. At stage two, you are motivated by reward: focusing only on exchanges that most benefit you. At stage three, you are motivated by duty:where you no longer care about fairness. You’re going to proceed regardless of punishments or rewards. At the pinnacle—stage four—you are motivated by love. Your aim is to bring as much joy to each individual as you possibly can. Your love transcends human reasoning.
It drives you to do things most would consider crazy. You no longer live by conventional rules or wisdom. You are directed by the highest and purest power in existence.
24. Your goals will manifest quickly. As an evolved person, you are connected to your higher source. You’ve learned how to create the results you want quickly—often instantaneously. You believe it and quickly you see it. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.” Related: 5 Qualities You Need to Reach Your Biggest Goals
25. You’ll be completely transparent about the good, the bad and the ugly. Most people inflate their goodness and minimize their failings and shortcomings. However, beyond your point of no return, you no longer care about looking stupid. You’re more concerned with the truth. You want deep and intimate connections. Your relationships are a sacred space where you and those you love can be completely authentic. Your faults intensify the love other people have for you, and vice versa. Furthermore, you’re humble enough to admit when you are wrong or if you’ve changed your mind. At the same time, you’re not hiding. You’re not afraid of being “seen in all your glory,” as Jim Carrey says. You’re not afraid of admitting you rock at something and that you want to use your skills to help.
26. You’ll make things right with people you’ve wronged. Embracing—rather than avoiding—reality requires that you carry no unnecessary baggage. You want to be completely clear so you’re able to create and flow. As a result, you openly apologize for things you’ve done wrong in the past. You seek forgiveness, which is really more about you than the person you harmed. It’s not your choice how people respond to your genuine apologies.
27. You’ll be more authentic in public. Who do you have to impress? Once you know what you want—and you’re completely set on doing it—you stop caring about ridiculous stuff, like what you’re wearing that day. Steve Jobs wore the same outfit every day. Even among the world’s leaders, he didn’t wear a suit, and people were fine with it. Because he was fine with it. Mark Zuckerberg is similar. These people are less concerned with fashion and more concerned with efficiency. They don’t care what other people think. They are far less concerned about how they appear and far more concerned about the work they do. This doesn’t mean you have to be a slob. But if, for some reason, you have a wardrobe malfunction, you won’t let it ruin your day. Beyond clothing and appearance, you are wholly yourself—rather than what society would tell you is proper.
28. You’ll put yourself out there more. It will initially be embarrassing to start putting yourself out there. But you’re not going to let your ego get in the way of your vision. So you’ll put yourself out there at the expense of looking foolish. You’ll put yourself out there at the expense of being wrong because fear no longer drives your behavior. Even if you are unsure of what you’re doing, you’d rather act in faith than hide in fear. You’d rather accept the consequences of trying your best than hiding your talents. 29. You’ll be genuinely happy for other people’s success.
As an evolved person, you are happy when other people succeed and sad when other people fail. The success of others is seen as the success of the whole. You genuinely want what’s best for everyone, even those you consider your competitors. Jealousy and envy are the ego, which operates out of fear. You’ve moved beyond that. As Ryan Holiday writes, “Ego is the enemy.”
30. You’ll need more alone time for the deep work. “Delegate everything except genius.” —Dan Sullivan Once you’re serious about living your dreams, you’ll need to build a team. In the beginning, you’ll probably need to manage most of the logistics yourself. But the sooner you delegate, the more energy you can put into the work only you can do.
Eventually you’ll want to delegate everything accept your superpower. You are the creator and your team makes it real. As Dan Sullivan said, “There are all kinds of great things going on in the company that I know nothing about.” Deep work is essential for creation. But it is becoming increasingly difficult to do. You will need to be vigilant against endless distractions and time-wasters. Only you know your body and mind, but most of the world’s highly successful people do their creating early in the morning.
They wake up and get to work. No email, no social media, no communication. Just sitting with themselves, their ideas, their resources and getting breakthroughs. If you’re highly focused (i.e., you regularly get into psychological flow), you’ll be enormously successful and prolific with only three to five hours of work each day.
31. You’ll have way more time. “You have to work less to make more money.” —Dan Sullivan When you commit to living intentionally: You will excrete the elements of your life that don’t fit. You will repel people who poison your spirit. You will attract mentors who help you progress. You will build a team that multiplies your work and takes care of the moving parts. In short, you will have way more time than you’re used to having. Your life will be simpler.
You will be focused exclusively on those things which matter most to you. Your No. 1 priority will be your family. You’ll be holistically healthy: You’ll make time for fitness, learning, engaging with others, rest and recovery, and adventure. You will be living the abundant life. This is the most natural way to live. It’s the life of creation and powe
Tips to Achieve Anything You Want in Life
Tackle your biggest goals with these tips from a former Olympic athlete. Inga Stasiulionyte I’m no stranger to feeling stuck in life. I’ve trained with some of the best coaches on the planet during my 20-year sports career, and again when I competed in the 2008 Olympics.
But when I wanted to start my own company, to share my knowledge about motivational psychology and training with others, it wasn’t as easy as I’d thought it would be. Launching a new business is not easy.
You have to give up the comforts of a stable paycheck to delve into the unknown, an unpredictable abyss. A lot of things keep us from making the leap—things like fear and insecurity. And one thing above all the rest: motivation. When I looked back on my days as an athlete, I understood what was different. I remembered what (or who) made me push myself even when I didn’t want to.
The difference was, as an athlete, I had structured days and a coach to report to. Structure keeps us focused and a coach keeps pushing and challenging us. Thankfully I passed this stage and I founded Onbotraining, an online coaching service that helps people achieve their goals. I decided to collect the lessons I’ve learned along the way and to share them with others, like you, striving to better themselves.
So, here are my 10 best tips for achieving anything you want in life:
1. Focus on commitment, not motivation.
Just how committed are you to your goal? How important is it for you, and what are you willing to sacrifice in order to achieve it? If you find yourself fully committed, motivation will follow. Here’s how to focus on commitment.
2. Seek knowledge, not results.
If you focus on the excitement of discovery, improving, exploring and experimenting, your motivation will always be fueled. If you focus only on results, your motivation will be like weather—it will die the minute you hit a storm.
So the key is to focus on the journey, not the destination. Keep thinking about what you are learning along the way and what you can improve. Here’s how to seek knowledge.
3. Make the journey fun.
It’s an awesome game! The minute you make it serious, there’s a big chance it will start carrying a heavy emotional weight and you will lose perspective and become stuck again. Here’s how to make the journey fun.
4. Get rid of stagnating thoughts.
Thoughts influence feelings and feelings determine how you view your work. You have a lot of thoughts in your head, and you always have a choice of which ones to focus on: the ones that will make you emotionally stuck (fears, doubts) or the ones that will move you forward (excitement, experimenting, trying new things, stepping out of your comfort zone).
Here’s how to get rid of stagnating thoughts.
5. Use your imagination.
Next step after getting rid of negative thoughts is to use your imagination. When things go well, you are full of positive energy, and when you are experiencing difficulties, you need to be even more energetic. So rename your situation. If you keep repeating I hate my work, guess which feelings those words will evoke? It’s a matter of imagination! You can always find something to learn even from the worst boss in the world at the most boring job. I have a great exercise for you: Just for three days, think and say positive things only. See what happens.
Here’s how to use your imagination.
6. Stop being nice to yourself.
Motivation means action and action brings results. Sometimes your actions fail to bring the results you want. So you prefer to be nice to yourself and not put yourself in a difficult situation. You wait for the perfect timing, for an opportunity, while you drive yourself into stagnation and sometimes even into depression. Get out there, challenge yourself, do something that you want to do even if you are afraid. Here’s how to stop being nice to yourself.
7. Get rid of distractions.
Meaningless things and distractions will always be in your way, especially those easy, usual things you would rather do instead of focusing on new challenging and meaningful projects. Learn to focus on what is the most important. Write a list of time-wasters and hold yourself accountable to not do them. Here’s how to get rid of distractions.
8. Don’t rely on others.
You should never expect others to do it for you, not even your partner, friend or boss. They are all busy with their own needs. No one will make you happy or achieve your goals for you. It’s all on you. Here’s how to not rely on others.
9. Plan.
Know your three steps forward. You do not need more. Fill out your weekly calendar, noting when you will do what and how. When-what-how is important to schedule. Review how each day went by what you learned and revise what you could improve. Here’s how to plan.
10. Protect yourself from burnout.
It’s easy to burn out when you are very motivated. Observe yourself to recognize any signs of tiredness and take time to rest. Your body and mind rest when you schedule relaxation and fun time into your weekly calendar. Do diverse tasks, keep switching between something creative and logical, something physical and still, working alone and with a team. Switch locations. Meditate, or just take deep breaths, close your eyes, or focus on one thing for five minutes.
Here’s how to protect yourself from burnout. You lack motivation not because you are lazy or don’t have a goal. Even the biggest stars, richest business people or the most accomplished athletes get lost sometimes. What makes them motivated is the curiosity about how much better or faster they can get. So above all, be curious, and this will lead you to your goals and success.
Accountability powers you toward your goals, and these guidelines for unleashing its power will get you over the rainbow to what you want. Heart. Intelligence. Courage. They’re all valuable traits, but they pale in comparison to what each of us needs most in the quest to total life success: Personal accountability is No. 1.
We first introduced our powerful accountability philosophy to the world over two decades ago in a New York Times best-seller, The Oz Principle. Since then, millions of people have come to know us as “the Oz guys.” Why Oz? As it turns out, the perfect metaphoric backdrop for our timeless principles is a timeless story, one that we both loved as kids.
Surely you will recall meeting Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion from the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz, based on L. Frank Baum’s classic children’s novel. All of the main characters are thrust into despairing circumstances beyond their control. A tornado rips Dorothy from her Kansas farm and hurls her against her will to a strange fantasy world.
The Scarecrow lives a stagnant life amid corn and crows because his creator skimped on brains. The Tin Man is rusted in place, unable to act because he lacks the heart to move. And the lovable Cowardly Lion? He lacks courage and nerve, and therefore lives a life well below his potential.
Feeling victimized by shortcomings and circumstances, the characters believe they cannot possibly change things on their own, so they set off on the yellow brick road to the Land of Oz in hopes of finding an allpowerful wizard who will solve all of life’s problems for them. At the heart of their message and ours lies this one simple principle: Don’t let your circumstances define who you are and what you do.
In other words, don’t place the hope of future success in the hands of some wizard’s wand. Relying on someone or something to save you only brings a sense of victimization that paralyzes your ability to think clearly, creatively and quickly. Instead, take charge of shaping your own circumstances, and good, positive, game-changing things will begin to happen.
Whether you’re looking to make wholesale changes in your life or just want to fine-tune it a little, here are 10 guidelines—highlights from our newest book, The Wisdom of Oz—that will help you unleash the power of personal accountability to take ownership for your actions, decisions, successes and failures.
1) Redefine accountability. Does the mere mention of the word accountability make you shudder? The negative (and uninspiring) view of accountability is reinforced in the common dictionary definition: “Subject to having to report, explain or justify; being answerable, responsible.” Staying true to yourself and your goals should not be drudgery. You must view your accountability as a gift to yourself, a voluntary mindset to ensure success, not something you’re force-feeding yourself even though you hate it.
2) Think as if your life depended on it. When you shift to a determined, creative mindset, you begin to discover solutions for challenges that you may have believed were out of your control. If your life depended on it, would you come up with a new idea or strategy to save yourself? Absolutely. The goal you want to achieve or the problem you want to solve probably is not a life-or-death scenario, but many creative solutions come when you put everything on the line. While your life may not be at risk, your happiness and success are.
3) When you can’t control your circumstances, don’t let your circumstances control you. On March 22, 2012, the state army of Mali stormed the presidential palace, overthrowing the western African country’s 20-year-old democracy. In the turmoil, Islamic militants took control of two-thirds of the country and crushed the upcoming democratic elections.
It was a tragic moment when the coup happened, says Yeah Samake, mayor of the small town of Ouélessébougou, located approximately 40 miles from the chaos. “I came into my living room and completely collapsed on the couch. My wife came and kicked me. I couldn’t believe it. I told her, ‘I am looking for sympathy here. Why are you kicking me?’ She only said, ‘Get out there and go do something.’ ” Whether you get off the couch on your own or require a little nudge from somewhere else, the point is to get out there and do something.
4) You’ve got to want it more than you don’t want it. Everything will exact a certain price from you—energy, effort, patience, resources. It’s natural to want the good things in life without paying the price: You want to lose weight but don’t want to exercise or sacrifice your favorite foods. You want a promotion but don’t want to put in the extra hours. Success comes when you hit a tipping point and begin to desire your goal more than you dread the cost of reaching it. 5) Don’t let gravity pull you down.
Just as massive planets produce gravity—drawing everything toward them—it seems that tough problems and challenging obstacles have enough mass to pull you away from getting what you want. This force gets bigger and stronger as the challenges get larger and tougher. Don’t give in. 6) Every breakthrough requires a bold stroke.
Actor Jim Carrey grew up so poor that his family lived in a van after his father lost his job; at one point the Carreys slept in a tent on a relative’s lawn. But Carrey believed in his own future and in the things that he wanted to accomplish in his life.
As the story goes, one night early in Carrey’s struggling comic career, he drove his beat-up Toyota to the Hollywood Hills and, while overlooking Los Angeles, pulled out his checkbook and wrote himself a check for $10 million. He scribbled in the notation line “For acting services rendered” and stuck it in his wallet. In that moment, Carrey cemented his personal resolve. Over the next five years, Carrey’s promise to himself led to worldwide fame. At the peak of his career, his per-film paycheck reached $20 million. When you discover your own internal power, you see that you have the right, the ability, even the obligation, to create your own best reality.
7) Ask for feedback. Soliciting advice and criticism from others creates accountability. For this to work, you will need to convince the mentor, friend, colleague or significant other whom you’re appealing to that you want to know what he really thinks. The evaluator needs to know that he won’t suffer any blowback if he is totally honest. Feedback is key to overcoming blind spots and achieving better results. 8) Ask yourself, Am I a renter or an owner?
We care more for the things we own than for the things we rent because we don’t have as much invested in things that are temporary; there’s not as much at stake. Have you ever washed a rental car? Of course not. When you own something—whether it’s a car, a work assignment or a relationship—you make an investment, usually involving some degree of sacrifice. When you rent, you can walk away without losing anything. If you’re really committed to achieving your goal, go all in.
9) Prepare to move a lot of dirt. Finding solutions is just like digging for gold. Have you seen the Discovery Channel reality show Gold Rush? It follows the lives of modern-day miners as they compete against time, one another and nature in hopes of striking it rich. First the miners must remove a top layer of 6 to 12 feet of dirt and rocks before the real mining even starts. Below this seemingly worthless and painful 6 to 12 feet, they hit pay dirt. The more pay dirt the miners process, the more gold they potentially find. In the end, they must move several tons of dirt to find just 1 ounce of gold. It’s hard work, but it yields rich rewards. Their bottom-line secret to success: Keep digging.
10) Make it happen! How do you do that? How do you really make personal accountability work for you? Wouldn’t it be easy if there were just some switch you could flip? An Easy Button you could push? Maybe an app you could use? Well, there really is a flipping magical switch-app-button. It’s called making a choice and acting on it. You have the choice to fulfill your aspirations or wallow in the blame game and victim cycle. True success doesn’t come from the outside but from within. There is no wizard. Taking greater personal accountability is the key to succeeding in everything you do.
5 Ways to Succeed at Fulfilling Your Dream
I mean, you’re constantly frustrated with your life. You want to pursue your dreams and live a successful life, but you just can’t seem to do it. Everyone around you seems content with their lives. They seem to have achieved their dreams. Even those who are in the midst of hardship seem to be living their dreams. And you can’t help thinking ..
.
why not me? And it’s a good question. After all, they’re not healthier than you. They’re not smarter than you. They’re not more interesting than you. But for some reason, they seem to have achieved their dreams without struggle. And you start to wonder... What’s their secret?
In fact, I wondered that too. I’ve been there, and well ... it’s depressing. So, I started doing research on what successful people do differently to fulfill their dreams. And I discovered that those who succeeded had certain characteristics in common. And knowing the truth about these traits they cultivated will change everything for you too. Use the following five tricks to help you succeed in fulfilling your dreams: 1. Cultivate a growth mindset
People can have two mindsets — the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. The fixed-mindset person believes leaders are born. This type of mindset person avoids taking risks because they believe their destiny is already mapped out for them. The growth-mindset person believes you can achieve your dreams through practice, persistence, and perseverance.
The growth mindset only comes to those who accept it. After accepting a growth mindset, your brain can stretch. And because the brain is like a rubber band, it stretches depending on how much you use it. With that mindset, you’ll develop your strengths toward your dreams because you’ll understand it’s not through birth that dreams are achieved but rather through pursuing your dreams with maximum effort. 2. Cultivate confidence in your dream
Trust in your ability to fulfill your dream. Get out of your comfort zone. Take risks, and follow your passion day in and day out. Your dream is a reflection of you, and only you can fulfill it. Without taking the plunge to pursue your dream, you’ll stay in the same position, always wishing you had found the courage to pursue it. Make your dream your top priority. Create a schedule that makes it part of your daily habits. By making it a consistent daily habit, you’ll prevent your fears from sabotaging your progress. Prove to yourself that you’re worth giving that dream a shot. Stick to it, not just for weeks or months but for many years to come. Work hard to make the dream a reality.
The more you believe your dream will come true, the more likely you are to achieve it. According to University of Wisconsin neuroscientist, Richard Davidson, the anticipation of achieving your goals makes you work harder toward them. Believe in your dream, and you will achieve it.
3. Cultivate delayed gratification Let your dream be your top priority every day. Commit never to postpone working on your dream even when you don’t see results right away or when the urge to quit gets overwhelming. Let the top performers in every field motivate you; they are consistent, and they show up and deliver while everyone else is weighed down by life and that constant battle with procrastination. Be like those kids who waited for fifteen minutes to eat their marshmallow because they wanted an extra marshmallow. By the way, those kids who waited grew up with better social skills and were more successful according to a follow-up study.
Choose the pain of discipline, and work on your dream every day, no matter how hard things get. You may not see results immediately, but the gratification you feel when all of your efforts finally come to fruition will be worth the wait.
4. Cultivate Healthy Relationships Human beings are created to be social. Relationships influence our mental health and provide a deep meaning and fulfillment in life. To succeed in life, make healthy relationships your top priority because you need other people to thrive to accomplish your dreams. A study conducted by Psychiatric George Vaillant on 268 Harvard undergraduate males from the class of 1938 to 1940 concluded that success depended on how well they related to other people and not how much money they had.
So surround yourself with happy people because they’ll make you happy too. Refrain from toxic people, those who continuously undermine your dreams. Their negativity will eventually make you doubt your dreams too. Find people who help you believe in yourself and your goals.
5. Cultivate Gratitude Gratitude strengthens your will power. It keeps you focused on what’s working well, which allows you to take actions confidently without letting your fears get in the way. Gratitude is available to all people. Whether you are sick or well, young or old, as long as you had a meal today, and your heart is beating, you’ve got something to be grateful for. People who always feel grateful are the most successful people in life.
They view the world as a place full of opportunities, despite their circumstances. Choose to be grateful no matter your situation. And count the opportunity to pursue your dream as a blessing. Prove to yourself that you can do it.
You can do so by staying focused on your dream. Slowly and steadily, keep cultivating a growth mindset, confidence in your dream, delayed gratification, healthy relationships, and being grateful.
Because there is no such thing as being born with success; it’s all about grit and sticking with it. And if you do, you’ll experience firsthand the beauty of achieving your dream. You deserve to succeed. So start taking action today.
10 Things Successful People do to Reach their Dreams
Everyone has dreams but not everyone possesses the power, knowledge and ability to make their dreams a reality.
All successful people possess certain truths and habits, principles that make them the success that they are. I have carried out an intense research on habits of successful men and women. In this article, I have compiled below a comprehensive list of the top 10 things successful people do to reach their dreams. Come with me on a journey as we learn from these great men.
1. They set goals and follow through on them. It is one thing to set a goal and it’s another thing to achieve that goal. Almost everyone sets goals but only a few possess the guts and discipline to follow through on those goals. At the beginning of every year, we all make resolutions about things we want to start or stop doing. If you look back to the first day of this year, can you proudly say that you have achieved 40% of your goals? Anthony Robbins is a very good example of someone who knows how to follow through on his goals.
This amazing guy went from earning $38,000 to $1 Million in just one year. The great oil billionaire H.L. Hunt once said that there are only two real requirements for success: first, he said, is to decide exactly what is it you want, second is to determine the price you are going to have to pay and resolve to pay that price. Obey this rule and you will be successful; ignore it and you will remain a local champion.
2. They are consistent. Malcolm Gladwell popularized the idea that 10,000 hours of guided practice is the key to success. While some scientists may not totally agree with that principle, I believe that there is more truth in it than lies. For you to become truly excellent at whatever it is you do, you need to be consistent at it. Cherish every opportunity you have to do what you love and do it well. All successful people know this secret. 3. They make the best of every situation.
Horatio G. Spafford had just lost his son to scarlet fever and his lifetime investments were lost in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. On a trip to Europe in 1873, his wife and four daughters were involved in a tragic ship wreck which claimed the life of his four daughters. After the incident, Horatio’s wife, Anna sent him a telegram to inform him of the accident. On receiving Anna’s telegram, Horatio immediately left Chicago to bring his wife home. Sailing across the Atlantic Ocean the captain of the ship called Horatio to the bridge. He informed Horatio that they were now passing the spot where his daughters drowned. That night, alone in his cabin, Horatio Spafford wrote one of the greatest hymns of all time “It is well with my soul”. He turned adversity into advantage and for that reason; he became one of the few men of his time that are still remembered today. If you are going to become successful, you must be ready and able to make the best of every situation because tough times will definitely come.
4. They take responsibility for their lives. Nothing ever happens to us by chance. Our life today is a reflection of our past decisions and the choices we make today will shape our future. In the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness” (2006), the story of Chris Gardner was told. Christopher Paul Gardner’s childhood was marked by poverty, violence, alcoholism, sexual abuse, and family illiteracy. He didn’t even know his father and he was taken away from his mother at a very tender age, as he lived in foster homes for a large part of his childhood. He is now a CEO, investor, motivational speaker, author, and philanthropist. In fact, his book spent over twenty weeks on the New York Times best seller list and has been translated into more than forty languages. You can see that despite his unfortunate childhood, he didn’t accept the fate he was handed. He took responsibility for his life and he resolved to make a difference. He used what he had to get what he wanted.
5. They form valuable relationships. Behind every successful Steve Jobs is a Steve Wozniak and there is a Paul Allen behind every successful Bill Gates. You need to have people that will help you achieve your dreams; believe me, you can’t do it alone. You need mentors, partners, employees, spouse and so on. Some of the criteria for finding good partners and mentors are compatibility, experience, similar values, loyalty, and mutual benefit among many others.
6. They make unusual sacrifices. A man was born in 1918; he disappeared from view in 1964 after giving a four-hour speech at his trial where he was convicted and received a life sentence. He spent 27 years in prison because he wouldn’t compromise his political beliefs. Released in 1990, he won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, became the president of South Africa in 1994, and has since then received more than 250 other honors. As you have probably guessed, his name is Nelson Mandela. He made a huge sacrifice for his nation and he finally got what he had dreamt about for over three decades.
Let me tell you another story. In order to generate $1,350 in capital they used to start Apple, Steve Jobs sold his Volkswagen microbus and Steve Wozniak sold his Hewlett-Packard calculator. They each made what was then a big sacrifice but it was really a small price to pay considering the fact that Apple is currently worth over $80 Billion. You need to make your own sacrifices now so that people can tell your story in the years to come.
7. They never give up. Real estate mogul Donald Trump is currently worth over $2.7 Billion, not bad considering the fact that he was previously indebted to the tune of $900 Million. The world didn’t end for him when he lost all he had and was bankrupt. He actually borrowed more money and kept trying until he made it. Thomas Edison tried over 10,000 times to make a light bulb before he succeeded. We would probably still be in darkness now had he given up. The toughest card life deals you and me is the test of time. Only those with resilience and the willingness to persevere will pass this test. 8. They take risks.
Every successful man or woman is a risk taker. When we were children, the society and the people closest to us shaped our lives. For instance, your parents probably told you to go to school, finish with good grades and get a good job. Everything our society preaches to us is get security and this is why whenever you want to take any big decision in life or do something out of the ordinary, you get scared. The difference between a success and a failure is that a failure runs away from his fears while successful people run towards their fears. “Do one thing every day that scares you,” said Eleanor Roosevelt. If you don’t take that advice, you are never going to grow and you can as well forget about becoming successful.
9. They cherish hard work and discipline. Brian Tracy defined self discipline as the ability to make yourself do what you should do when you should do it whether you feel like it or not. I write everyday not because writing is so interesting but because I have to do it if I’m going to succeed as a writer. You need to really develop this habit because there is no other way to become successful. Rose Blumkin founded Nebraska Furniture Mart which is now owned by Warren Buffet. She worked every day at her store till the age of 103; she got ‘work sick’ the only time she took a vacation for about a week. She knew the value of hard work. To become successful in life, you need to find what you love doing and do it with all your heart. “With faith, discipline and selfless devotion is nothing worthwhile that you cannot achieve,” said Muhammad Ali.
10. They create value. Value attracts wealth and attention. Becoming successful can be simply defined as solving a problem. Find a problem that your skills, passion, dreams and potential are programmed to solve and solve that problem. Increasing demand for pizza better and faster access to pizza gave birth to pizza delivery. Business men and women needed faster means of transport to business meetings all around the world and boom, the private jet was made. You have been made to solve a particular problem, solve that problem and success will be yours. All the points mentioned above are just principles and will not make you successful until you decide to make them habits. Make a decision to succeed today and nothing can stop you.
Be the next successful person and add your must-do item in the list too!
10 Things You Need To Stop Doing If You Want To Be Successful Success means something different to every person: like beauty, it exists in the eye of the beholder. It is your responsibility to determine what success means for you, and how you go about breeding success in your life. Despite this, there are definitely hindrances to success. These drawbacks are ubiquitous in their ability to deter your success. But don’t fret because if you seek success, and you fear your actions are blocking your desire for success, you have the power and control to overcome the following obstacles:
1. Making Excuses Stop blaming other people for why you don’t get what you want. Stop refusing to accept responsibility for your mistakes. You make your own choices and you make your own mistakes. In general, stop justifying your poor choices and stop attributing your lack of success to things outside of your control. Successful people don’t do this.
You are going to err. You are going to fail. When this inevitably occurs look within, in a non-judgmental manner, and figure out what you can do better next time. Don’t waste time looking externally by creating excuses for why you didn’t achieve success.
2. Focusing on the Negatives Yes, there are negative circumstances in life that you have no control over. There are also plenty of positive experiences in your life. I am willing to bet you have more positives in your life than negatives. You are capable of living with a positive perspective.
If you want to cultivate success in your life than you need to concentrate on all the good. You shouldn’t disregard the negative, but you don’t have to give it so much of your attention. Otherwise you are never going to be satisfied because you are so focused on the unfavorable conditions of your life. Even if you reach a level of ostensible success, your continued focus on the negatives will prevent you from relishing your accomplishments.
3. Fearing Failure As I previously stated, YOU ARE GOING TO FAIL! There is no reason to fear it. Rather, you should embrace it. Learn from it, and ultimately improve from it. When you are successful you know you are always trying your best. When you fail it is not a reflection of you as a person; you are not a flawed individual. View failure as an opportunity to grow, not as something to be feared.
4. Looking for the Easy Way I want to preface by stating that attaining success isn’t supposed to be an improbable venture where you have to overcome a certain amount of adversity and hardship. I am opining that successful people don’t look for the easy way through life.
Merely strolling through life on cruise control is not the blueprint for success. You need to challenge yourself at times. Push yourself and stretch your limits. Aim to reach your maximum potential, and then go beyond that. That is a success in itself.
5. Beating Yourself Up You wouldn’t ever beat yourself up physically so why would you do it emotionally and mentally? Learning how to skillfully deal with your thoughts and emotions when you are facing adverse situations is crucial to being successful.
Get upset over things. Express your emotions in an appropriate manner. Be unhappy from time to time. It is going to happen. But don’t ruminate over unpleasant memories and beat yourself up over things that already occurred. Too much time and energy spent on this diverts your attention away from more important endeavors like progressing toward your goals.
6. Being Ungrateful The best way to establish more contentment in your life is to be more grateful. If you want to push away happiness, joy, and bliss than be ungrateful. Gratitude breeds happiness but it also breeds success. If you are grateful for your life and everything that comprises it you are going to have a less complicated time attaining wealth and accomplishing your goals. I don’t just mean financial wealth because wealth includes all kinds of valuables. I am not proposing that all financially wealthy people are grateful, and therefore, successful, or that all financially poor people are ungrateful, and therefore unsuccessful.
Being ungrateful is not congruent with getting ahead in life. If you crave success than observe everything you are grateful for. Your gratitude will serve as a compass for your life. It will guide your decision-making, and lead you to success.
7. Concentrating Solely on Your Needs Hopefully this goes without saying but focusing only on yourself is not going to help you attain success. You could be the wealthiest person on the planet, and it is apparent that you are extremely successful. If you accrued your wealth by taking advantage of people, or by being selfish and egotistical, you are not successful in my book. You probably wouldn’t be very happy either. The best way to succeed in life is by helping someone else!
8. Getting Distracted You were going to start your book but…You were going to launch your dream business idea but…You were going to travel through Asia but… I get it. Things come up. Life takes you on a different course. It happens sometimes. But don’t allow yourself to become distracted from realizing your dreams. When distractions obstruct you from your passions than you are moving further and further away from claiming your ultimate successes. This starts with your daily life.
It is fun and often necessary to log onto Facebook and check emails, but don’t allow the modern technological age to prevent you from the work that needs to be finished today. Success is based on working toward your goals while not letting disruptions hinder that./
9. Living Aimlessly It is your responsibility to ascertain your life goals and objectives. Being successful means you are fulfilling your life’s purpose every day. Whether your purpose is super ambitious such as solving world hunger or more feasible like being happy, doesn’t matter. The point is that you are aiming to be the best you can be. Steadily wandering through life without any ambitions or without contributing anything to society is not what successful people do.
10. Giving Up When you face an improbable obstacle in life how do you respond? Do you give up, or do you keep pressing on? Successful people don’t give up. They commit themselves to reaching their final destination. They may not ever get there, but they don’t allow impediments to prevent them from trying. This means continuing on despite failures and disappointments. Success encompasses a lot of different arenas. What works for financial success may not translate into relationship success. Being successful as an athlete doesn’t necessarily make you successful as a student as well. There are varying degrees of success depending on what situation you are in. Regardless, the fundamental backbone of success is trying your best.
If you put forth your best effort, without harming others in the process, than you are a successful person. This can apply to work, family, friends, relationships, hobbies, etc. As the late great John Wooden said, “Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.” I think that sums it up beautifully.
7 Things Really Successful People Do Quietly We all want to believe we have the potential to be super successful. When it comes down to it, the prime thing that separates successful people from the rest of us are smart decisions. A common pitfall on the way to success is boasting, exaggerating, or losing your perspective. However, by changing the way we approach challenges, we can better position ourselves to attack the next obstacle successfully. To help unlock the secrets of successful people, the following seven qualities are ones you should try to do quietly:
1. They Network One thing truly successful people do quietly is network. In the professional world, networking is a balance between corporate interests and personal relationships. This means that overwhelming your new connections with business concerns can easily work against you. Not only that, but advertising far and wide your intentions to network could lead to new connections catching wind of your business strategy. This often makes people feel as if they have been used and will impede your ability to form meaningful connections.
2. They Start New Projects Successful people also start new projects with humility. Whether a new undertaking is at home or work, if your project is ultimately shelved, postponed, or changed, advertising your new undertakings too early could make you look foolish. That and bragging too much about new opportunities can be a tempting setting in which to lampoon your current or old positions. Don’t forget that mocking your previous positions is nothing more than ego run amok. Nearly everyone starts off small, and making fun of this will likely alienate those beneath your position.
Additionally, being too open about fresh projects could give competitors inside information and allow them to offer competing products or services that are better than yours. 3. They Deal With Challenges Other things successful people do modestly is conquer challenges. Much like being too open about upcoming projects, giving away too much information about the challenges you’re currently facing might give competitors an extra edge. Not only that, challenges and assignments tend to look more intimidating while you are dealing with them; and seeming too stressed out or swamped could make you appear less capable, especially if your boss, or future employers, are considering you for a project. If you complain widely regarding feeling overwhelmed, you may miss out on a new opportunity or promotion
4. They Incubate Ideas Successful people also know to consider ideas quietly. Even if an idea you have leads to a successful project or venture, it usually takes time to refine a concept before it makes any sense. In addition, competitors are happy to steal ideas from others, so it’s better to quietly sit on a plan until you’re putting it into practice. 5. They Interact Socially with Humility
Much like networking, interacting socially is something successful people do quietly. Flaunting accomplishments and opportunities is off putting and abrasive. Additionally, nobody appreciates it when somebody habitually drops names. Basically, treat everyone you interact with as equals and value and foster humility.
6. They Manage Employees Ethically Another way successful people become and stay successful is by managing any employees under them privately and with respect. Employees always prefer when their superiors communicate with them in private. This way you avoid potentially embarrassing someone in front of others and preserve a professional atmosphere.
7. They Invest Finally, something potential successful people do quietly is invest. Whether you are investing in real estate or stocks, giving away all your personal details can come off as crass if the people you’re sharing this with are not as financially secure. Additionally, giving away too much information about your investments is another way to give competitors information they can use to further their pursuits.
7 Reasons Why "C" Students Will Be The Most Successful People In World There is a common opinion that if you study hard and graduate with an “A diploma,” it will guarantee you will find a great job that pays well. Unfortunately, the reality is different. Although, most positions require you to have a diploma, no one will look through your grades. When you graduate, the only thing that matters is your knowledge and the ability to operate within the system. So why is it that students that you could barely get their “C” at the end of a semester manage to become super successful? Let’s look through 7 reasons why “C” students will be the most successful people in the world. 1. They understand what they want earlier than others
“C” students don’t spend much time on the unnecessary classes we all have to. If you are trying to become a technician, you obviously don’t need to write a hundred of annoying essays about culture and your summer experience. They stop taking the required classes and focus on vocation-related subjects that can help them during their work. World famous innovator and entrepreneur Steve Jobs never finished college and made it to the top of IT industry only because he was focused on doing what he liked. During his famous speech to Stanford graduates he emphasized that “The only way to succeed, is to love what you do. Keep looking, don’t settle”.
2. They get first-hand experience. Most “C” students start working earlier than their peers, which lowers their marks as they have to skip classes to make a living. At the same time, they get priceless experience every “A+” graduate is missing. And we all know that you are less likely to be hired without actual experience.
3. They build networks. While “A” students are stuck learning unnecessary subjects, C students read tons of useful literature and communicate with dozens people every day. In real life, knowing powerful people as well as the ability to communicate can make a difference in your career.
4. They know how to enjoy life. When in college, they visit parties and come to the lessons a little bit hangover, nevertheless, they enjoy their life. Same happens when they start working. Plain and simple: happy people are more successful than those who are not. It happens because they are fun to be around, proactive team players who will cheer up the entire team, which is one of the best skills your boss can look for. Stressful, negative people, no matter how intelligent they are won’t be in the top list of candidates.
5. They find the simplest solutions. Billionaire computer specialist Bill Gates is one of the many successful people who cannot show off with their college marks. Nevertheless, he managed to get to the top by building Microsoft, one of the giant IT corporations. Bill Gates is very open-minded and unlike others, he never looks at grades or even diploma. Moreover, he thinks it is important to think outside-the-box. One of his famous quotes: “I will always choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because he will find an easy way to do it”.
6. They follow their dreams. Much of success comes from loving what you do. When you enter college you are very young and might not understand what you actually need. That’s why it is important to understand that you are not obliged to follow the choice you made when you were 18 or worse, if your parents made it for you. Look at the youngest female billionaire Elizabeth Holmes, who is revolutionizing medicine. She dropped out of Stanford, one of the most prestigious colleges to follow her dreams. Another great example is all-known fun-lover Richard Branson, he dropped our school at the age of 15, now he is managing a giant air company “Virgin.”
7. They understand what it is to struggle. Success requires emotional intelligence, perseverance, passion and, most importantly, the ability to overcome failure. In business as well as in life, you will go through ups and downs no matter what grades you had in college. “C” students become more successful because they know what it means to struggle, starting with passing an exam and ending with finding money to start their own business. At the end of the day, grades are just numbers. True achievement is to become someone in a real world. And, if you graduated from college with lower grades, don’t despair. Real life and real lessons occur when you leave the classroom.
3 Keys For Success in Life
Do you want to program your mind, and hack your body to stay in a positive state, a state of action taking throughout the day? I suggest you read on. We will look at 3 critical elements that successful people are doing that you can model to program your mind to be in the state of succeeding from the moment upon waking, and make decisions throughout the day that will lead you towards your desires. One of the biggest pitfalls in the modern society is to fall in to the trap of going on autopilot, to be walking dead and do what everyone else are doing. Most of us are too busy reacting and responding to the environment and what’s happening around us. While we should act and take charge of our own world, and our own reality. We forget to stay focused and we forget about our goals.
Be Conscious Being more conscious in your day-to-day decisions will lead you to take the appropriate actions to reach your goals. Have a purpose with life, act according to your values, and don’t let people tell you what to do or how things should be.
When you start to make more conscious decisions, you will start to think about if this is going to take you closer to your goals or drift you further away. Why are you doing what you’re doing right now? Why are you reading this? Nothing else to do? Or are you reading this site so you might pick up a thing or two to consciously incorporate in your life to improve yourself that will move you in the direction you want? What are your goals?
Be healthy? Lose weight? Be fit? Get the dream job? Have the dream house? Live the dream life? Make a certain amount of money? Start a family? Meet the dream man or woman? If you truly want to pursue these goals and actually see them come true. There are 3 things we have to consciously start doing.
1. Write down your goals.
2. Create a powerful belief system.
3. Invest in yourself.
1. Write down your goals.
The first thing you do in the morning will determine what your day is going to be like. Program your mind to be in a powerful state from the moment upon waking, and you are guaranteed to have a productive and great day. How you can do this is by writing your goals down, every morning. Then, once you’ve done that, circle the most important goal, the goal that in the long-term will have the most impact on your life. Now ask yourself this question: “What actions can I make today that will change everything and take me closer to this goal?” Write down all the actions you can think of, circle the two most important ones and start doing them. Don’t stop until it’s done.
This is an extremely powerful method of getting in the right state first thing in the morning. Instead of wandering around half-dead and spending 30 minutes to wake up you are hacking your mind to be productive. Another powerful reason for writing down your goals is that by reading them it makes us feel good, write them as if they’re already accomplished. You’re already there. Re-reading and re-writing them every morning will ensure you to be in a resourceful state where you act based on your goals. You will make conscious decisions throughout the day that will support your goals and take you closer to them. Goals that are not written down are merely wishes. The power of writing goals as if you’re already there takes us to point number
2. Create a powerful belief system. Ask any successful person what their number one rule for succeeding is. They all have this in common: They believe in themselves and what they’re doing, and they are not afraid to say it. If you don’t believe in yourself, why would anyone else?
When people ask you about your goals in life, don’t be afraid to say it out loud. If you have high goals, they might laugh and look at you funny. But if you’re insecure about your goals, you will make insecure decisions that will lead you nowhere.
Go against the grain, stand out. After all, how many people in the world today are actually living the dream? Now, how many of these people will respond something in the likes of “I don’t know” if you ask what their goals are? Be determined and believe in yourself. People will respect you for having the guts for going after what you truly desire.
I once heard a story about a guy that worked in a video store. Every day he would bring two magazines to work, one was a entrepreneur magazine and the other was a magazine loaded with expensive and fast-riding cars. His boss would ask him why he was bringing these magazines to work every day and his answer was: “I’m picking out the car I’m going to buy.” The response from the boss was like most average minds saying he was killing himself thinking like that, he would never ever get that car and would just end up disappointed when it never happened.
Turned out, the guy later quit the job at the video store and followed his dream. Some years later he return to the video store to return a video, and he did so in the car he picked out from the magazine. The same people were working in the store as the day he used to work there.
Now can you imagine the looks on their faces when he turned up in the car they said he never ever would get? Priceless. And it all started by creating a powerful belief system.
The first step to living and achieving your dream is to believe it and imagine it. When you believe in your mind that you’ve already achieved your goals you will develop a sense of certainty. That certainty will lead to action steps, when you know what the outcome is going to be it’s much easier to pick out the actions that are necessary to get there.
You are certain you will live in the body you want. You are certain you will live in the dream house with the dream family. You are certain you will have the job you want, and earn the money you believe you’re worth. By constantly repeating in your mind the images of yourself succeeding you create neural pathways in the brain. Your mind can’t tell the difference between what you vividly imagine and the reality. Go out and day dream. Go out and believe, imagine already living your dreams and goals. With enough repetition you become certain that this is the only outcome and you work backwards to find ways for making it happen. The next step in personal success that will lead to life success and happiness is to..
3. Invest in yourself A wise man was once asked what the best possible investment someone could make. His answer was short, sweet and simple: “Invest In Yourself.” The man’s name is Warren Buffett. He is known as the world’s greatest investor, and according to Forbes has a net worth of $53.5 Billion. Hiring a personal coach, getting a membership at a gym, buying healthy foods, books and education are not expenses.
They are investments: investments in yourself. Some things you can do today to invest in yourself are: Go to the gym and train. Physical training releases endorphins and makes you feel great. It increases productivity and energy levels. By investing time in the gym you’ll be better able to handle daily tasks and what life throws at you. Forty-five to fifty minutes is all you need, it’s actually the best time to shoot for in a workout.
When you go to the grocery store after work, ask yourself: “What foods will nourish my mind and body to feel and perform better?” You are setting yourself up for greatness and consciously making yourself aware of what foods will empower you, therefore make better decisions. Start reading books. Everyone buys books, but very few actually reads them cover to cover. Stop reading books. Few read the books they buy, but even fewer remembers what they read. Stop reading books and start studying books.
Study at least one hour a day. “One hour per day of study will put you at the top of your field within three years. Within five years you’ll be a national authority. In seven years, you can be one of the best people in the world at what you do.” – Brian Tracy (motivational speaker)
Take notes. Never leave home without a pen and a piece of paper. The best ideas often comes in the least appropriate times, write them down. Don’t trust your mind to remember them—it won’t. Writing it down right away will also allow your mind to store and come up with more ideas.
Learn a new skill. Learn something new every day, a new skill or a new word. One new skill every day equals 365 new skills a year. Now imagine where you could be a year from now if you start doing it today? Do something for yourself. Yes, hard work is a major factor for succeeding, but at least once per month do something fun, something outrageous and spontaneous that makes you feel alive. Have fun and enjoy yourself.
Last piece of advice and rule to follow: Keep on, keeping on. Sometimes things get hard and the road seems too long. You just have to keep on, keeping on. Revisit your goals and start imagining, all of the sudden you’ve changed your state and you’re on the right track again. The track that will take you to greatness. Use these 3 keys to create your destiny and achieve what you want in life.
How To Be Successful In Life: 13 Tips From The World’s Most Successful People No matter how old you are, where you’re from or what you do for a living, we all share something in common—a desire to be successful.
Each person’s definition of success is different, however, as some may define success as being a loving and faithful spouse or a caring and responsible parent, while most people would equate success with wealth, fame, and power. We all want to achieve success so we could live a comfortable life—have financial freedom, drive a nice car, and live in a beautiful house. However, although success can be achieved, it does not come easy. There are a lot of tips and strategies out there on how to be successful in life, but I am still a firm believer that there is no better way to succeed than to follow that footsteps of those who have already done so. Here are 13 success tips from some of the world’s most successful and renowned people:
1.Think big. From Michelangelo Buonarroti, Great Renaissance Artist: “The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.” 2.Find what you love to do and do it.
From Oprah Winfrey, Media Mogul: “You know you are on the road to success if you would do your job and not be paid for it.”
3. Learn how to balance life. From Phil Knight, CEO of Nike Inc.: “There is an immutable conflict at work in life and in business, a constant battle between peace and chaos. Neither can be mastered, but both can be influenced. How you go about that is the key to success.”
4. Do not be afraid of failure. From Henry Ford, Founder of Ford Motors: “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.”/
5. Have an unwavering resolution to succeed. From Colonel Sanders, Founder of KFC: “I made a resolve then that I was going to amount to something if I could. And no hours, nor amount of labor, nor amount of money would deter me from giving the best that there was in me. And I have done that ever since, and I win by it. I know.”
6. Be a man of action. From Leonardo da Vinci, Renaissance Genius :“It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.”
7. Avoid conflicts. From Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of America: “The most important single ingredient in the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people.”
8. Don’t be afraid of introducing new ideas. From Mark Twain, Famed Author: “A person with a new idea is a crank until the idea succeeds.”
9. Believe in your capacity to succeed. From Walter Disney, Founder of Walt Disney Company: “If you can dream it, you can do it.” 10. Always maintain a positive mental attitude.
From Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President of America: “Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.” 11. Don’t let discouragement stop you from pressing on. From Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of America: “Let no feeling of discouragement prey upon you, and in the end you are sure to succeed.”
12. Be willing to work hard. From JC Penny, Founder of JC Penney Inc.: “Unless you are willing to drench yourself in your work beyond the capacity of the average man, you are just not cut out for positions at the top.” 13. Be brave enough to follow your intuition.
From Steve Jobs, Co-founder of Apple Inc.: “Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
6 Habits Of Highly Successful People Before Bedtime We’ve all heard the stories about the mega-successful who wake up early every day and conquer the world before most people put the coffee on. But what about the other time of day that plays an equally important role? What are successful people doing right before bed? Do you want to know the secret? They set themselves up to have an even more productive day tomorrow. Here are six bedtime habits of highly successful people
1. Read for an hour Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates is an avid reader. Each night before bed, he spends an hour reading a book, ranging on topics from politics to current events. Aside from the obvious benefits of gaining new knowledge, reading daily has also been shown to reduce stress and improve memory. A 2009 study from the University of Essex revealed that reading for as little as six minutes a day can reduce stress levels by up to 68%.
Another big benefit from cracking open a good book on a nightly basis is that it can improve the long term health of your brain. Every time you read, it’s like a mental workout for your mind. This study performed in Britain showed that people who stimulated their minds through activities like reading, reduced cognitive decline by an average of 32% as they got older in age.
2. Unplug After passing out from exhaustion and injuring her head to the tune of five stitches, Arianna Huffington has been an evangelist for “unplugging”. Every night before bed, she puts her phone in another room so she’s not distracted by it before bed. And science proves that she might be onto something. According to Dr. Charles Czeisler, a professor of sleep medicine at Harvard University, the bright lights produced by our cell phone screens disrupt our bodies natural sleep rhythm and actually “trick” our bodies into thinking it’s daytime. Those bright lights send a message to our brains that prevents certain chemicals from being released, causing us to have a much harder time going to sleep. So, if you want a good night’s rest, stash your phone in another room.
3. Take a walk The busy CEO of Buffer likes to unwind with a brisk walk right before bed. He uses his walks to turn off his thoughts about work, and slowly work his self into a “state of tiredness”. For a busy person always on the go, Joel’s late night walk routine could be perfect way to unwind after a stressful day. And aside from the obvious health benefits of daily walk, there a couple of surprising bonuses that come along as well.
One study revealed that walking can increase creativity. When you’re walking, your mind isn’t working as vigorously, which “opens up the free flow of ideas.” So if you’ve got a tough problem you haven’t been able to solve, maybe a nice, night time stroll is all you need to find the perfect, creative solution
. 4. Meditate The media maven has long supported the idea of regular editation. No doubt, Ms. Winfrey has a schedule that keeps her mighty busy, and what better way to unwind at the end of a stressful day, than with a focused meditation session. There’s often times a stigma surrounding meditation, and there has always been a debate as to whether mediation is actually helpful. But when a 2014 study took a look at over 19,000 cases involving mediation, the results were clear. Meditation was found to help reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and pain. So regardless of one’s view of mediation, you can’t argue with the results.
5. Get creative In 2006, Vera Wang stated to Fortune that her nightly routine includes, “a fair amount of designing — at least conceptually if not literally.” Sometimes, the quiet of the night can be the perfect remedy for a creative block. What’s even more surprising is that there’s a study that actually shows night time can be the perfect time for creativity, even if you’re tired from a long day. A study from Albion College revealed that, “tasks requiring creative insight was consistently better during their non-optimal times of day.”. So if you’re a morning person (raises hand), then your most creative ideas will come right before bed. Researchers believe this is true because your mind is less restrained at night. Your ability to make logical connections worsens, but it works in your favor because you’re able to make connections you wouldn’t have been able to otherwise.
6. Plan the next day The American Express CEO likes to manage his time, and he does so by ending his nights in a very simple way. He plans out three things he wants to accomplish for the following day. That way, he can wake up in the morning, and get to work on his most important tasks, right away.
This study from the early 90’s supports Chenault’s strange addiction with planning. Researchers followed a group of students from their high school years, until four years later at the end of their college careers. The researchers tested these students on their time management skills in high school, and when they caught up with those students four years later, they made a shocking discovery.
The students with better time management skills, had higher college GPA’s then their peers who had higher SAT scores. Basically, time management played a bigger role in their academic success than actual scholastic aptitude.
Small Things You Can Do Every Day To Become Highly Successful Have you ever wondered what the secret to success is? For most people, it’s not one specific thing. Rather, it’s the result of many daily habits that are repeated over and over. Here are small things you can do every day to ensure that you’re being intentional with your time and spending it on your priorities. Incorporate these tips into your daily routine and watch your success soar!
1. Define your priorities. What are your main three priorities in your life? What three things do you do with the majority of your time? Do your priorities match up with where you’re spending your time? If so, awesome. If not, you’ll need to work extra hard to be intentional about spending more time on your priorities, and getting rid of the junk that prevents you from doing what’s important to you. Really think about how you want to spend your life – you will likely only feel successful if you spend your time on what matters most to you.
2. Set a schedule for the following day. Time is our most precious resource, and it’s irreplaceable. If you really want to be successful, you’ll need to plan how you’re spending your time.
One way to do this is to take time each evening to write out a schedule for the next day. Writing out your schedule helps for three main reasons: It helps you maximize every hour you are awake; it helps you set aside time to focus on your priorities every day; and it helps you discover if you waste a lot of time. I recently read that the average American spends 5 hours a day watching TV. Setting a schedule will help you avoid the trap of time-suckers like TV.
3. Eat the frog.
“Eat a live frog first thing every morning, and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.” – Mark Twain
If you’re like most people, there is a task every day you procrastinate because it scares or overwhelms you. This task is your frog, and according to Mark Twain, you should eat it right away in the morning. The problem with procrastinating eating your frog is that it’s hard to concentrate on getting other things done; you’re too busy thinking about the frog you need to eat later. Also, putting it off makes it seem even more overwhelming because you have time to imagine every possible thing that could go wrong with the task. Eating the frog early in the day gives you a sense of accomplishment, and it’s great to start the day feeling successful. Finishing your dreaded task immediately can give you the momentum you need to get other tasks done throughout your day. Plus, they’ll all seem easy compared to the frog you started with.
4. Be honest with the person in the mirror. Now that we’ve talked about eating the frog, I want to encourage you to be honest with yourself. Just because there’s a frog to eat at the beginning of your day doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to get up way earlier than you normally do to start eating it. Some people do their best work before sunrise, and others are incredibly productive late in the evening. If you love starting your day at 5 a.m., wonderful – go ahead and eat your frog in the early hours of the morning. If you prefer to sleep in, that’s fine too – go ahead and eat your frog early in YOUR day. Successful people are honest with themselves. They know that setting a goal of working out every morning at 4:30 a.m. isn’t the best idea if they’ve never been a morning person. They set their goals based on their most productive times.
5. Give yourself deadlines. Take advantage of a major productivity hack: Parkinson’s Law. Parkinson’s Law states that work will expand to fill the time available for its completion. If you have less time to complete a task, you’ll likely increase your effort. Think about how clean you can make your house when someone calls and says they’ll stop by in 20 minutes, and how intensely you can focus when you have a an assignment due the next morning. Your effort significantly increases when time is limited.
Giving yourself deadlines to accomplish tasks can help you achieve your goals. As you set your daily schedule, it can help to use Parkinson’s Law to your advantage. One way to do this is by using time blocks. Give yourself 55 minutes to accomplish a goal, and then take a planned 5 minute break. Knowing you have limited time will help maximize your productivity during the 55 minute work session. Also, the mini mental breaks from your hard work every hour can re-energize you.
6. Minimize distractions. Get rid of as many distractions as possible while you work. If the internet distracts you, set your computer so it’s locked from certain sites during set times of the day. Shut off your phone. Your messages will be there when you’re done with your to-do list.
7. Pause. Plan time every day to take care of yourself. Set aside time in your schedule for you to give yourself the gift of exercise, quiet time, or ideally both.8. Plan backward. One way to move forward toward your big goals is to plan backward when setting goals. For example, say you want to lose 26 pounds. After you set an initial long-term goal of losing 26 pounds by one year from now, start planning backward and breaking the goal down into doable chunks. If you want to lose 26 pounds in one year, you’ll need to lose 0.5 pounds (1750 calories) each week. This is 250 calories per day. Many people have 3 meals and 2 snacks per day, which means you can decrease your intake by 50 calories every time you eat. That’s a totally doable goal! You’ve now taken a large, overwhelming aspiration and you broke it into very small, achievable daily goals. Planning backward to move forward works for all kinds of big goals. I have a financial goal I want to meet this year, and I know exactly how many dollars and cents I need to earn each day to hit my mark.
9. Write it down. Research shows that just by writing your goals down, your chance of achieving them increases significantly! Write down your goals, post them somewhere easily visible, refer to them frequently, and you have a much higher chance of success.
10. Find an accountability partner. Accountability partners are great; they encourage and support us as we work toward achieving our goals. Maybe you’ve always wanted to write a book, exercise regularly, or start a home-based business. Tell someone who will help keep you accountable and check in with you weekly to review your progress. It works great to have an accountability partner who has some similar goals.'
11. Compare yourself to others only to fuel your determination. You really want to feel good about your life? Quit comparing yourself to everyone else if it makes you feel bad. Being envious of others can quickly decrease your happiness and make you feel unsuccessful. That being said, comparing can be helpful if you’re doing it out of admiration instead of jealousy. If your friend is constantly getting promoted at work, study his habits at the office. Does he always arrive early and stay late, and offer to take on extra projects? Emulating his work ethic may help you get the raise you desire. Is your coworker the picture of perfect health? Comparing your habits to hers may make you realize she takes a walk every day over the lunch hour while you munch on snacks at your desk. Join her for a walk if you aspire to improve your fitness.
‘When we compare in a healthy way (they have that, I’d like it, how can I learn from them to get it?), it can fuel our determination to become more successful.
12. Seek out a mentor. If there’s a specific area in your life you are passionate about, choose a successful mentor to help you grow in that area. You may find that you have different mentors for different areas in your life – I know I do. Consider hiring a coach; the right coach can make a world of difference in your life by giving you the inspiration and tools needed to reach high levels of success.
13. Delegate. “If you want to do a few small things right, do them yourself. If you want to do great things and make a big impact, learn to delegate.” – John C. Maxwell As difficult as it can be, it’s important to give up some control and delegate certain tasks. After all, there are only 24 hours in the day, and if you really want to focus on your priorities and become wildly successful, you’ll need to trust others to take care of the things that are less important to you. A few years ago, I wrote out my weekly tasks, and realized there were 56 tasks that I completed each week. No wonder I felt overwhelmed at times! I began evaluating the importance of each of those tasks and decided to delegate the tasks that weren’t imperative for me to perform, yet still needed to get done. Now I have more time to focus on my priorities. When we delegate some tasks to others, we are able to focus on what’s important to us – a key to becoming successful.
p> 14. Choose your company wisely. Aside from having one specific accountability partner, choose your entire tribe with care. According to businessman Jim Rohn, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Are you hanging out with people who are encouraging, positive, and supportive? Or, do you spend most of your time with people who are toxic? Choose to spend your time with people who inspire you to be your best.
15. Read. Want to be highly successful? Read. Read frequently. Reading invigorates us and opens our minds. Read material that inspires you and lights your fire. Delve into self-development. Absorb as much information as you possibly can. There’s always more to learn.Things Successful People Do Differently
You see, successful people all do similar things. As Brian Tracy says, “Success leaves tracks.” It’s these “tracks,” the behaviors and habits, that set them apart from the ordinary folks who just work their 9-to-5 jobs, clocking in and out every day, never looking to get ahead. If you want to be one of the greats, if you want to be a big success in life and leave ordinary behind, do these things successful people do, and get ready for the big results that are sure to follow if you do them consistently.
1. They commit to their goals When successful people set a goal, nothing gets in their way of achieving it. They commit 100 percent to the outcome, knowing that one difference between successful and unsuccessful people is that the successful ones commit to a goal and don’t stop until they achieve it.
2. And they persist until they achieve them Obstacles to success are normal and should be expected. They can’t always be planned for. However, you can decide when you commit to success that you’re going to persist no matter what obstacles arise. Go around them, go over them, or push through them, but persist no matter what happens. That’s what successful people do, and so should you if you want to mimic their success.
3. They take responsibility Successful people know that they are the masters of their own destiny. You don’t hear them complain about the things that stopped them from success. You won’t hear them make excuses. Instead, they push forward knowing that they are the only thing that will make or break their success.
4. They work hard Have you ever met someone who is super-successful and lazy? Neither have I. The truth is that the road to success is paved with hard work. If you want to achieve great results, you’ll need to wake up early, stay up late and put in your time. Success doesn’t just come to those who want it. You’ve got to pay your dues.
5. Find people who are doing what they want and emulate them A college professor once gave me some of the best advice I ever received. He said, “if you want to be wealthy, hang out with wealthy people. If you want to be funny, hang out with funny people. And if you want to be poor, hang out with poor people.” The truth is that people naturally mimic the behaviors of those around them. Mindset is contagious. So if you want to be a big success in life, spend time with others who are already successful.
Don’t know anyone successful? That’s ok. You can read books written by them or about them. Listen to their radio interviews or watch them on TV. Attitude and success is contagious, so catch it by hanging around some of the greats.
6. They believe in themselves and their vision The school of hard knocks ain’t easy, so if you want to achieve big results, you’ve got to believe in yourself. The world’s most successful people have unshakeable confidence in themselves and in their vision. Without it, they’d have to give up too easily after a few obstacles got in their way. How’s your confidence? Do you believe you can achieve your dreams? I’ll tell you something in case nobody told you before: you can do whatever you want in life, you’ve just to first believe it, and then work like mad to get it.
7. They take care of themselves When was the last time you saw a successful person who was obese or extremely overweight? Sure, these people exist, but they’re the exception to the rule. Most successful people know they need energy to get ahead, and the best way to have that is to eat right, exercise and get proper rest. Which brings us to our next point…
8. They rest and recharge Hard work is a requirement for success, but you can only push yourself 24/7 for so long. Successful people work hard and then unplug so they can refresh their minds and bodies. If you’ve been pushing it to the limit, think about unplugging for a long weekend or more. Once you get back to the grind, you’ll be more effective at getting the results you want.
9. They constantly learn Successful people believe that learning never ends. This doesn’t mean they’re going to school to get new degrees, although they may. Even without formal education, they’re constantly reading and learning from others around them, perhaps from books, trade magazines or conferences, or from others who are ahead of where they want to be.
What have you learned recently that can get you closer to the success you want? If you haven’t picked up a book, trade magazine or listened to CDs or MP3s that can get you smarter in your field, it’s time to start.
10. They make mistakes and learn from them Successful people aren’t afraid to take risks. Because of their unshakeable confidence, they treat any mistake as a learning opportunity. Think about the last mistake you made. Didn’t make a sale? Reevaluate your sales call and make it better next time. Screwed up a presentation? Read a book on how to present successfully so you can crush your next one. Failed in your last relationship? Call your ex and ask what you can do better with your next partner. So go take some risks, don’t be afraid of making mistakes, and if you stumble, learn from it so you can be better next time.
p> These are 10 things successful people do. How many of them are you doing today? If not all, or most of them, it’s time to upgrade your behaviors so you can get the success you deserve. If You Have These 6 Struggles, You're Highly Intelligent
Most people regard highly intelligent people as super humans who have it all figured out simply because their brains can help them in any life situation and they don’t have to struggle with the problems of the ordinary people. Yet, the reality is quite different, as no matter how intelligent someone may be, they are, at the end of the day, just human. They struggle with issues somewhat different than those of the rest of the world, but still challenging and difficult. If you are a highly intelligent person, these struggles and the lack of understanding from peers can leave you feeling lonely. Maybe your friends and family don’t seem to be mindful of your feelings. In order to help you feel acknowledged and understood, here are some of your most common struggles. 1. Small talk exhausts you
It can be quite a challenge for you to be involved in small talk about ordinary things. This is because your brain is overwhelmed with great ideas. Topics that interest you likely include science, art, philosophy, and those are rarely found in small talk. This makes you feel like you are wasting your time trapped in a suffocating, never-ending list of socially acceptable set phrases. All you really want is a like-minded individual to bounce ideas around with about the important stuff.
2. You think more than you speak As your brain is wired to look for all possible solutions and answers to a problem, it may take you more time than a person of average intelligence to give your opinion or draw a conclusion. Moreover, if you are not completely sure you’ve got the right answer or a brilliant idea, you won’t speak at all. Your struggle lies in the fact that most people around you are not familiar with the way your thought process works, and they get confused or regard you as weird, introverted, or uninterested.,<
3. Your job can easily bore you The need for your brain to be constantly challenged with new, greater ideas and projects can turn your once exciting job into ordinary and boring as you exhaust all ways to be creative with it. This can turn into a dayto-day struggle to finish your tasks. Additionally, in most cases, your boss isn’t so sympathetic to your longings and just wants the job done.
4. You sometimes have action paralysis It is hard to be a thinker in a world full of go-getters that appreciate action more than great ideas. As you are too consumed with different ideas, you may at times be missing the action impulse. Unfortunately, people tend to mistake this trait as laziness which leaves you feeling underappreciated. 5. You are considered socially awkward
As if those aren’t enough, your next struggle comes as a result of all the previous ones. If you are feeling uncomfortable during small talk, refrain from speaking if not sure, don’t get inspired by old and exhausted ideas, or if you feel more comfortable with ideas than execution, people tend to characterize you as socially awkward. Little do they know, this only puts more pressure on you making you feel more self-conscious about your social conduct.
6. It is hard for you to fall in love Finally, your quest for love is slightly more demanding than that of average people. Since you are much more cautious, analytical and independent than the rest, you tend to get mistaken for cold and high maintenance. Additionally, you can lack spontaneity at times, which makes your love interest, lose interest. However difficult your daily struggles may seem, you don’t need to let them immobilize you from growing. You can work on expressing yourself more to others so that they can get a better understanding of your needs. You will find some common ground.
Things To Do To Change Your Life Forever “Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future” ~ John F. Kennedy The one constant thing in our life is change. We cannot avoid it and the more we resist change the tougher our life becomes. Trust me, I know this because I was very skilled at deflecting change in my life. We are surrounded by change and it is the one thing that has the most dramatic impact on our lives. Change has the ability to catch up with you at some point in your life. There is no avoiding it because it will find you, challenge you, and force you to reconsider how you live your life. Change can come into our lives as a result of a crisis, as a result of choice or by chance.
In either situation we are all faced with having to make a choice – do we make the change or not? I believe it is always better to make changes in your life when you choose to rather than being forced to. We however cannot avoid the unexpected events (crisis) in our lives because it is these events that challenge our complacency in life. What we can control when we are experiencing these challenging events, is how we choose to respond to them.
It is our power of choice that enables us to activate positive change in our lives. Acting on our power of choice provides us with more opportunity to change our lives for the better. The more opportunities we create to change our lives the more fulfilled and happier our lives become. Here are 10 things that you can do in your life that will change your life for the good, forever: 1. Find Meaning In Life Spend some time trying to sort out what is important in your life and why is it important. What is it that you want to achieve in your life? What are your dreams? What makes you happy? Your meaning in life gives you purpose and sets the direction of how you want to live your life. Without meaning you will spend the rest of your life wandering through life aimlessly with no direction, focus, or purpose. 2. Create A Dream Board When we were children we would daydream all the time. We were skilled at dreaming and visualising what we would be when we grew up. We believed that anything was possible. As we grew into adults we lost our ability to dream. Our dreams became hidden and once we started to feel like achieving our dreams was impossible.
A dream board is a great way for us to start believing in your own dreams again. Seeing our dreams every day on a dream board brings our dreams to life. Our dreams become real and we start to have believe in the possibility of achieving these dreams. 3. Set Your Goals To Achieve Your Dreams Once you know what is important in your life and what your dream life looks like for you, you need to take action and set your long-term, medium, and short-term goals. It is acting on these goals that enable you to achieve your dreams Remember your goals may change. Always be flexible with setting and achieving your goals as things in life change and your goals need to reflect these changes. It’s the small steps that you take that create the momentum for change to happen in your life.
4. Let Go Of Your Regrets Regrets will only hold you back in life. Regrets are events of the past and if you spend all your time thinking about the past you will miss the present and the future. You cannot change what you did or did not do in the past, so let it go. The only thing you have control over now is how you choose to live your present and future life. I had a heap of regrets that were holding me back in my life. I came across the “Balloon Exercise” and got rid of my regrets for good. What is it? It’s simple — blow up as many balloons as you need. On each balloon write a regret and then let the balloon go.
As the balloon drifts off into the sky say goodbye to that regret forever. A simple and powerful exercise that works and can change how you live your life. 5. Choose Some Really Scary Things To Do And Then Do Them This is all about you choosing to step out of your comfort zone. Public speaking is one of the most frightening things anyone can do.
I was petrified of public speaking however, I knew that I wanted to be a motivational speaker. So I joined Toast Masters to overcome my fear of public speaking. My first speech was terrible, my knees were knocking, I broke out in a sweat and I couldn’t stop shaking. But I did it and the feeling of completing this speech, even though it was terrible was great. I chose to keep going and now I earn a living as a motivational speaker. I am still nervous when I get up to speak however it is an excited nervous and I love it. Make a list of scary things that you would kind of like to do but are too afraid to. Put a plan in place and then go do them. Never stop doing scary things because if you do your life will become one of complacency and comfort.
6. Start Living A Well-Balanced Life Our health does not remain the same. Our physical, emotional, and spiritual state changes, as we get older. What we can control however is how we feed our minds and our bodies. Living a balanced and healthy life builds our resilience to the physical changes of our body.
Exercise is the best way in which we can attain a positive and optimistic attitude toward life. Living a healthy, well-balanced life with lots of exercise is a lifestyle choice that without a doubt will give you a happier more satisfied and fulfilled life. 7. Face Your Fears Its easy to ignore our fears and hope that they will go away.
Unfortunately, it does not work like that. If you want to change your life, learn to master your fears so they can’t control you any longer. Our fears are only thoughts in our minds that are not real but over time we have become to believe that they are true. It is our fears in life that stop us from living our life to the fullest.
We know when our fears are controlling our lives because we feel discontent, dissatisfied and unfulfilled. Once we face our fears we take back our power to choose how we want to live our lives and when we do this we change our lives forever. 8. Accept You The only person who is going to create change in your life is you! and to create that change you have to like you.
There will be times in your life where you will face rejection and there will be people who will not like you that much. Accepting who you are and loving yourself helps you to move forward in your life. Putting yourself down all the time and wishing you could be better will only lead you to a life of unhappiness and discontent. Find your courage, love yourself, and step out and do something crazy. Don’t worry about what anyone thinks or whether it is the right thing to do. In your heart if it feels right, act on it and go create the life you love. 9. Live In The Moment Many of us tend to think that the grass is greener on the other side. Often, we get to the other side of the fence we find that this is not so.
The motivation to change our lives comes from our desire to be happy. We are often so busy focusing on our pursuit of happiness that we miss the joy of actually living in the moment. Our desire to have happiness in our lives is a desire of a future state not of the present. We become so consumed with all our problems and discontent in the present we miss the precious beauty of the moment. Sitting on the beach eating an ice-cream with your best friend or partner is a moment of happiness.
Appreciating and showing gratitude on a daily basis is experiencing happiness in the moment. Helping those in need brings joy and happiness to us. This is what living our life in the moment is all about – don’t miss these moments because you are too busy focusing on your pursuit of happiness. 10. Experience The Joy Of Learning Each time you learn something new you gain more knowledge and with more knowledge comes more confidence. Learning helps us to be more adaptable and flexible to new situations. Learning encourages us to be more creative and innovative in our thinking and we are therefore more comfortable with the unknown.
Reading books is a great way for us to learn. To fully embrace the joy of learning, never stop reading nor searching for more knowledge. Learning gives our life meaning and this is what makes our life worthwhile.
You have a choice to make as to how you want to change your life. Choosing to act on these 10 things will, without a doubt change your life forever. So what are you waiting for? Go do these 10 things now! 10 Lists to Keep If You Want to Be Successful The human mind is truly incredible, and we should all strive towards creating a tenacious memory we can rely on. Many lucrative professions or hobbies require such a trait—actors, musicians, artists and entertainers in general do countless drills, just so the required information can be embedded in the memory with certainty.
Clearly numerous doors that lead to a successful future are unlocked if one has a great memory. Although beneficial, it is not an essential ingredient within the success formula—what you lack in memory can always be compensated with diligence. Keeping track of crucial elements in your life through list-making is still an unrivaled tactic for counterbalancing feeble recollection. By utilizing constant reminders, we can have significantly greater organization, we won’t be under the impression we have forgotten something, and we will have a clear insight into which task has a stamp of immediacy attached to it.
Here are ten suggested lists that warrant implementation, in order to track achievements and nurture ambition. 1. List of Goals “What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.” —Zig Ziglar Goals and ambition is what drives us and motivates us, but we need to ask ourselves what is it that we want in order to feel truly accomplished.
Your list of goals should consists of all the items that you deem are necessary to truly respect yourself. It can be financial stability, a place you can call your own, starting your family, being independent, etc. People have different criteria when it comes to goals, and this list in particular is ever-growing; it changes as you mature, but it always feels great when you cross something out of it. Without such a list, you lose direction of where your life is heading, and we all need some inner guidance to focus on—a good reason to get up in the morning. 2. List of Tasks “Happiness does not come from doing easy work but from the afterglow of satisfaction that comes after the achievement of a difficult task that demanded our best.” —Theodore Isaac Rubin Tasks are actually milestones on the road to goal completion, and these lists have a tendency to become quite copious. New tasks emerge on a daily basis, regardless of whether you are an employee, a student, or a freelancer. Despite the fact that they are arduous, we always have some sense of achievement once the task is complete, or when a certain problem is solved. By avoiding to make such lists and lists of our daily tasks, they’ll simply pile up and eventually become a hindrance.
In the event you have larger tasks that need more than a day, a week or a month before they can be completed, then break those tasks into smaller daily assignments, and put them on the list as well. As long as you monitor larger tasks while completing minor daily milestones, you will have a greater grip on progression and continuous source of motivation. List and sticky notes are actually quite potent tools for increase in productivity, especially while we are working from home. Lastly, it is worth mentioning that you should also have a list of personal tasks, or tasks you do for the sake of self-fulfillment. These are related to your personal goals, and governing passions—writing a book, painting, crafting etc. These tasks will define you and offer a much greater sense of achievement, so give it your all to create something you can be proud of.
3. List of Contacts “Wishing to be friends is quick work, but friendship is a slow ripening fruit.” —Aristotle It would be delusional to assume you can make it all on your own; however, at the same time, a flawed partnership can result in disastrous outcome as well. It is extremely difficult to find compatible allies and contacts, since friends and family—in other words, people close to you—may not be the best choice for a business partner. If you want to enter into a partnership with someone, make sure the person shares the same vision. Tread lightly and try to ascertain your potential partner’s level of reliability.
Throughout life, we come across skillful, capable and talented people, whose competence might be needed in the future, depending on your line of work of course. Do not be hesitant to offer a helping hand when they are in need, since you can gain a valuable contact. The point being: make a special list of all important contacts, like reliable programmers, handymen, lawyers, etc.
Remember not to only reach out when you are in need. You need to maintain a healthy and natural relationship and be there for those people if they require your assistance. Truth be told, it can be arduous to forge strong friendship bonds, but having important acquaintances and becoming an important acquaintance is very much possible. Without such a list, you are leaving yourself vulnerable to possible future complications; moreover, make sure this list is well-kept since once you lose a contact like this one, it can be somewhat troublesome to recover such data.p> Just be sure you have recovery data tools at your disposal to mitigate the damage if something were to happen to your phone.
4. List of Expenses “A wise person should have money in their head, but not in their heart.” Jonathan Swift This may be a quite mundane piece of advice, yet it is very often neglected.
As we all know, there are two types of expenses: those that are necessary, (bills, taxes, food) and those expenditures used for indulging some personal cravings. There is a degree of restraint that the majority of us lack in order to approach the matter with a satisfying level of prudence. To say it bluntly, we treat our wants like our needs, and necessities and primary obligations are pushed in the background. Of course, this may sound a bit exaggerated, but the truth is the pressure of a consumer’s culture eventually becomes overwhelming, resulting in a purchase we shouldn’t be able to afford at the time.
This kind of behavior can be avoided by utilizing lists, and turning them into an omnipresent reminder of what is truly important. By making lists of all the monthly expenses we are obligated to pay, we’ll have a clear overview with how much resources are there at our disposal. On the other hand, without this list filled with meticulous calculations, we are prone to believing that we have more freedom to engage in a shopping spree, ultimately causing our bills to pile up; thus, we end up a step closer to a financial suicide. Handling finances properly, or the fact that we prioritize the costs of living, is a responsibility that signifies maturity. Success is commonly measured by the amount of wealth and without adequate spending tactics, you prevent its accumulation.
5. List of Useful Tools “If you’re the type of person who has to fulfill your dreams, you’ve got to be resourceful to make sure you can do it.” —Vin Diesel Today’s society vastly depends on the use of technology—we exchange information, conduct calculations, measure time, etc.
This level of reliability also suggests liability. If something were to happen to our cell phone or personal computer, it would be a sizable setback that could harm our capabilities severely. As mentioned, losing contacts can truly be troublesome. It is even worse however, to have your life’s work lost and compromised. Useful tools are not only limited to recovering damage; they also encompass tools that make your job easier. With efficiency and a greater level of competence, you are a step closer toward success. Using the right apps and tools can make up for our lack of skills in a particular area, or simply help us manage our work in a more timely manner. Keeping a list of useful tools will come in handy whenever you are faced with more common problems, like finding a good restaurant for a business dinner, driving through unfamiliar terrain, task management, learning, and there are even tools capable of helping you recover stolen property.
Even though the list is not as crucial as the ones mentioned so far, it is undeniable that having it can save you a lot of time if the need for it ever arises. The Internet is a vast sea of both useful and useless tools, and by filtering out those that are irrelevant, you won’t have to conduct countless searches when you are in need of adequate tools for problem solving. 6. List of Self Improvements “The minute that you’re not learning I believe you’re dead.” —Jack Nicholson Reasonable to assume this one is unavoidable, and it always deserves to be mentioned. It is safe to assume we are all aware of our shortcomings; if not all of them at least some of them. Think about yourself, make a list of all the things you would like to improve or change, then consider how to implement those changes. Despite the fact that those who are close to you do not pressure you into changing or improving, you should always make constant endeavours to do so, for your own sake. The list of improvements should consist of physical changes, changes spiritual in nature, abandoning bad habits etc. No one expects you to change entirely in a short time period, but making a decision to change one thing on a yearly basis is a viable resolution, quite easy to execute.
The list is there simply to remind you which improvement to prioritize, and build up your confidence after each completion. Refusing to change can either result in lack of confidence and depression, or becoming an overconfident and self-absorbed person that no one will tolerate for long; both of these traits are contradictory to your quest for a successful future. 7. List of Creative Ideas “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” —Waldo Emerson Throughout history, people who made the most significant impact on the world were those with a revolutionary way of thinking, those who dared to challenge the established order and alter the status quo. For an idea to be classified as creative, it needs to be new, it needs to make sense, and it needs to have some sort of use. For example, creating something to help the disabled communicate online, or simply type—that way, people who have lost their limbs could blog or become creative writers, and show the world a piece of their mind. Thus a keyboard in a form of braces could enable them to type using their tongue; however I am not an engineer, so I do not know whether something like this is possible.
Whenever a new idea comes to your mind write it down, then browse the web to see if you indeed have stumbled upon something ground-breaking. Once your list has grown, then you need to start pondering on the subject to see whether it holds closer scrutiny. Ask for a second opinion and see what you would need to realize your idea. In a majority of cases, this is how successful people are created. Rest assured that it is very possible that people won’t be impressed with your creativity as much as you are, but do not allow yourself to be discouraged—after all, perseverance has a crucial role in a career as well. Monitoring your thoughts incites productive thinking and hones your focus; it keeps our mind occupied. Letting your good ideas slide is only a wasted potential that will put your progress in a halt.
8. List of Future Plans “The future is uncertain but the end is always near.” ―Jim Morrison We have all heard statements like “Tomorrow is a mystery,” “Live for today,” and “You can’t affect the future.” Personally, I heavily disagree with such a point of view. Although I do agree that, in particular circumstances, making plans for the future is doing Sisyphus work, not planning it at all seems utterly mortifying. I also believe that everyone makes some sort of plan; the problem is this fear of uncertainty that thwarts our will to act.
To make your resolve more adamant, compile a list of your future plans, see what you need in order to make them come true. This one is very similar to the first list—the one with goals; the difference is, it does not have to involve your personal future. Rather, it is list of upcoming important events, important changes in law, or upcoming trends, useful software, etc. It will keep you well-informed and prepared, since staying updated and relevant are essential virtues for lucrative businessmen. 9. List of Contingency Plans “You pray for rain, you gotta deal with the mud too. That’s a part of it.” —Denzel Washington Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, meaning there is nothing you can do without consequences. Every attempt to be more successful usually has a set of barriers attached to it, or risks.
Even though risks are inevitable, being prepared for the aftermath is always a good and necessary thing. When you plan your business incentives, or when you plan to invest in something, make sure you compose a thorough pros and cons list, as well as a list of possible negative scenarios. In the event that positive aspects outweigh the negative ones, you can be more encouraged to proceed further. Make an effort to be constantly prepared for the backlash of major initiatives, and contain the possible damage. The lack of contingency implies recklessness, and it was adamantly made clear how this approach contradicts advancement.
Make leaps of faith only when you have no other options to explore. 10. Bucket List “The bitterest tears shed over graves are for words left unsaid and for deeds left undone.” —Harriet Beecher Stowe Finally, learn to live for the sake of experiencing what life has to offer. It is invigorating, to say the least, and it keeps your regrets at minimum. One of the reasons why we want to be successful is to actually fulfil our dreams or complete our bucket list, to look back on our life during old age with a warm smile rather than a frown. Feel free to put even the impossible things on your bucket list, and find the next best thing using your creativity. Whenever you reach a rough patch in your life, take a look at you bucket list and see what is the most plausible thing to do in order to restore your will power and keep going. 3 Essential Things to Achieve Success (Hard Work Is Not One of Them) A common adage is that you need to work harder and suffer more than anyone else if you want to achieve success. At the most, that’s a half-truth.
From what I have learned from people who have accomplished big things in both their lives and careers, one of their most common “a-ha moments” was when they realized that working hard was not enough to succeed, and that often it was even a waste of time and energy. Thinking from this perspective, I have collected 3 things that just are as important, or even more important, than hard work when it comes to achieving success:
1. Purpose You’ve been working down in the boiler room for so long that you may not even remember WHY. If you examined every single person in the world who is considered a failure (especially by themselves), you would see that all their lives lack the same ingredient: purpose.
They don’t know where they are going. They don’t know why they do the things they do and don’t think there can be a reason. They chase only short-term satisfactions like food or sex, and those are the only things that keep them moving. p>They are operating only out of the animal side of themselves. Thus, they are not able to practice long-term thinking or personal analysis as human beings can. There is no need to look at very clear cases of failure to find the disease of lack of purpose. If you are not constantly aware, you will find yourself in the middle of doing something and won’t know why you are doing it. Momentum can be a good friend, but is also one of those friends that will make you waste a ton of time if you don’t keep an eye on it. Every time you start an action, keep in mind that you are going to keep on doing it for the rest of your life. Unless, of course, something internal or external reminds you to start doing something else.
When you start working on something without clearly knowing the expected results, it may take you hours or days of hard work to realize that it isn’t what you should be doing, if you ever want to achieve your goals. Don’t be a busy, hard-working person.
Be a hard-planning person who takes purposeful actions instead.
2. Self-work Work on yourself 10 times as hard as you work on external elements, and you will feel that you are moving 10 times faster towards what you want. Almost all the hard work you have to do to succeed is focused on replacing your routines and habits with the ones a successful person would have.
By deliberately changing your procedures, you change the results you achieve, the value you provide, and the way you are seen by yourself and the rest of the world. If you could perform the same training and habits as Bruce Lee, day after day, there is no doubt that you would sooner or later become a remarkable martial artist, right? And what about performing like a person whose success in business has been outstanding? What if you integrated the same routines and habits that have allowed others to unlock the power and creativity they needed to succeed in their career or life? You could, literally, start performing like that today and get astounding results immediately.
The only requirement is that you put your old habits and self-limiting beliefs aside, making space for new ones. You must look at them before you can let them go; if you don’t recognize the weeds amongst the flowers, you won’t be able to take them out
. Success is not attained by fighting the old, but by letting it go and building the new in its place. 3. Belief If you don’t believe it’s possible for you to achieve what you want, you can work day and night, but you will never succeed. Sometimes, all the distance that seems to be separating you from your goals is in your mind. If you removed those mental barriers, you would see that you could just reach out and grab what you’ve been pursuing for so long.
As long as you don’t believe that it’s possible for you to have it, you are going to keep creating excuses and distractions. That’s simply because it feels uncomfortable or scary to have something you don’t think you are ready to have, or become someone you don’t believe you can be. If you removed the negative beliefs about what YOU can have and become, your reality would change instantly.
Conclusion I know that these three things also require hard work and focus, but the stress, frustration and hours of pushing and shoveling they may save you are priceless.
11 Reasons Why It's Important to Follow Your Dreams Everyone always says, “Follow your dreams!” But not everyone does it. Life interjects, bills pile up, and sometimes we have to do jobs we don’t want to do just to make it through the day. However, there are a number of reasons to follow your dreams, to break the trend, and to live the life you’ve always wanted. Here they are below: 1. They make life worth living. Your dreams are what can get you through even the worst days.
If you are struggling, your dreams are your reason to keep going. They are why you wake up in the morning and try again. They are what makes your entire life worth living. Without our dreams, we are nothing.
2. You’ll meet other dream seekers. When you are motivated and excited about pursuing your dreams, you’ll attract other people who have the same values and interests
. The more you surround yourself with high achievers, the further you’ll go. Then, when times get tough, and it’s hard to keep going, your friends will motivate you to continue achieving.
3. You can be an inspiration to others. If you decide to go and follow your dreams, you will give hope to others who want to do the same. You can serve as their example and their reason why they should give it a try. You can help them, coach them, and encourage them to keep going.
4. You can provide for your family. When you are this motivated, it’s very hard to fail. If you are very set on your dreams, and you make sure that you can make an income along the way, you’ll be able to provide for your family. Some dreams take longer than others to achieve, but that’s what makes the end goal so worth it.
5. Working in a job you hate makes the days go slowly. Why should you work in a job you hate? You’ll count the clock, you won’t do as well, and you’ll dread waking up in the morning. Instead, pursue your dreams! Get excited about your day, and enjoy the process of doing what you love.
6. Because no one is going to follow them for you. Let’s face it: no one else is going to pursue your dreams for you. Everyone has their own dreams and their own goals for what they want to achieve in life. If you don’t go for it, no one else will.
7. So that you can finally be happy. Life without dreams is depressing. Search far and wide for yours, and make a promise to yourself that you will start pursuing them. Once you get on the path towards your goal, you will notice a distinct change in how you feel.
8. To prove them wrong. All of us have been around people who told us our dreams weren’t possible. Let that add fuel to your fire.
Think about all the people who said it would never happen, and go out and prove them wrong. 9. It will make your parents proud. Sometimes parents don’t always understand our dreams or they try to sway us towards a particular one. However, if you are adamant about your dreams, and you work hard to achieve them, your parents have no reason not to be proud of you. 10. It will make YOU proud. Even better than making your parents proud, you will be proud of yourself! Your confidence will rise, and you’ll enjoy the excitement and the adrenaline that comes with doing something you’ve always wanted to do.
11. You only live once. Life is short. Our days are numbered, so why spend them doing something we don’t love? It’s time to make a decision to go for it. I’m in! Are you? Once You Learn These 8 Hard Truths About Life, You'll Become Much Stronger Life is many things. Life is beautiful and miraculous, and it’s wonderful. But there is one thing life isn’t: easy.
There are times when this is more apparent than others. We don’t always make it any easier on ourselves either; we hold onto notions and habits and notions that are incorrect, ludicrous, or even harmful to us. We walk through life refusing to see simple truths because we’re worried they’ll be too hard to bare, without realizing that accepting them will actually make every day much easier and much more joyful. William Beteet’s list1 describes perfectly some difficult truths that we need to learn to accept: 1. Everyone You Love is Going to Die Grim as this may sound, realizing that eventually you and everyone you know won’t be around forever will enrich and deepen your relationships. So many people take their loved ones for granted and feel an unrelenting sense of regret when they’re gone. Parents, grandparents, friends — we never know when we may find out that they’re no longer with us. Have you called your parents lately? Call them now. Our relationships are the most meaningful things we have in life and should be cherished.
2. We Give Our Lives Meaning Buddhists believe that we create our own world with our thoughts and actions. Having a meaningful life, then, is a choice. We don’t have to go out and join the peace corps or end world hunger to have a meaningful life; a bagger at the grocery store can feel just as fulfilled as the CEO of a major company. Often times, we’re too focused on what we don’t have and what we want and this makes our lives feel empty no matter how much we’ve achieved.
3. The Perfect Partner Doesn’t Exist Many people dream of the perfect romance and a partner that will sweep us off of our feet and into the sunset of an eternally happy ever after. In fact, most of us are probably guilty of daydreaming about our “perfect match” sometimes.
But how can it affect our real relationships when our partners don’t meet our picture perfect dreams? This doesn’t mean we should settle for someone we’re miserable with, but it does mean that we should always expect to put work into a relationship. Think of it as an artistic masterpiece; you and your partner are the tools and you have to work together to make the canvas beautiful. We can be happy and fulfilled in a relationship, but not if we expect the canvas to paint itself!,
4. Life Is A Game Why should we walk on eggshells our entire lives, worried about getting something terribly wrong? This life is ours to learn from and experience. We should think of it as a game; decide what it is we want to do in life, learn the rules, and level up. We can never achieve anything or be successful if we’re too afraid to play. Have you ever heard of someone becoming a pro football player without ever setting foot on a field? 5. Everything Ends This is a lot like the first only it may be a little harder to hear. Nothing lasts forever. We’ll only be young for a little while and then we’ll be old. We’ll fall in love, we’ll fall out of love, or lose the ones we love.
We’ll live and then we’ll die. So many people before us have lived, loved, succeeded, failed, and died. We need to remember that we aren’t any different. Rather than being depressed by this, however, we can feel grateful, excited, and even empowered in this life. If things lasted forever, what would make them special? Time and endings make things valuable. We need to appreciate everything. 6. Be Romantic About The Little Things Since we know now that everything comes to an end, we also know that we need to love everything we can in life. Things can become so mundane when placed into the mundane mind of someone viewing life as “the daily grind.” Things are beautiful when we take a moment to let it be so, though. Take a different route to work or school, lie down in the grass and watch the clouds, and look up at the stars. Be romantic and the world will always feel magical. Take a day off from the stress and enjoy life!
7. Be A Realist About The Big Things Even though we shouldn’t take life too seriously, it’s important that we don’t let our right brain reign all hours of the day. There are some things in life we just need our more analytical mind for.
For example, those of us wanting to become famous authors can’t just write some words and then find that, BOOM, we’re a best seller! No. We have to take the appropriate steps to edit, promote, and publish our work. Most things worth doing take time and energy. Basically, everyone has to use their head sometimes.
8. Figure Out A Way Or Don’t Complain Almost everyone has met someone who does nothing but complain about how his or her life isn’t turning out the way they like it.
We either tune it out or feel frustrated with them. We think why don’t they just change it if they don’t like it? But, if we’re honest with ourselves, we realize that we’re not always much better. “That teacher is too picky, her tests don’t make sense.” “I just can’t learn how to do that, I have a condition. “The truth is that complaints rarely change anything and more often than not, they hold us back. We need to be proactive and positive. We need to believe that we can figure out a way. Otherwise, we can keep our complaints to ourselves
10 Habits Successful People Give Up to Increase Their Productivity
What are you willing to do in order to reach success? It is common among people these days to be average and not stand out too much. But those who are successful do not fall under this category. In order to stay on top of your game and reach the level of success you want, you need to follow a certain set of self-induced rules. Success is not something that happens by accident; if you want it bad enough, you will get it. Learn the habits that successful people have given up in order to reach their own success. 1. They don’t work in their comfort zone.
What is your comfort zone? Your comfort zone is defined as “A psychological state in which a person feels familiar, at ease, in control, and experiences low anxiety.” When you get outside of your comfort zone, it doesn’t mean that you should strive for a constant state of anxiety and stress. It simply means that, in order to grow, you should try new things and expand your horizons.
The reason we are comfortable in our comfort zone is because we are not taking risks when we are in this state. When we live in our comfort zones, we are living life like hamsters on a wheel, going around and around in a constant cycle, but going nowhere in our lives.
Famous motivational speaker, Les Brown, said it best with, “If you put yourself in a position where you have to stretch outside your comfort zone, then you are forced to expand your consciousness.”
2. They don’t do without first learning. Learning is what we do best. The greatest thing about learning is the benefit that we receive in all aspects of our lives. Successful people strive to continue learning new things and expanding on things that they already know.
If we stop learning, then the only thing we can do is settle with what we already know; if we settle for that, then there is no way to expand our minds. Expansion is essential on the path to success. Since our minds require learning for expansion, we must never stop seeking new knowledge. Imagine what would have happened if Bill Gates stopped learning and growing. The internet would be much more primitive than it is today.p> But because he followed his dreams and continued growing, he founded one of the biggest companies in the world and it is still flourishing and growing today.
3. They don’t fear asking for advice. Richard Branson, a famous entrepreneur, stated, “When you need to make hard decisions, being able to discuss your ideas with entrepreneurs and business leaders who have solved similar problems can make all the difference.”
Asking for advice is not always easy. We think that we have the same opportunity as everyone else and sometimes feel insecure and dependent, so we decide not to ask for advice, and try to figure it out ourselves. But this could be greatly limiting us from reaching our full potential, because the advice we might be seeking could be something that somebody knows very well.
4. They don’t get lost in the small details. When life gives us seemingly endless opportunities, it is very easy to get lost in the small details. The small details are very easy for us to become focused on, thus causing us to miss out on the overall vision, also known as the “big picture”. Focusing too much on the smaller details constricts your ability to see how everything ties together. Much of our lives hinge upon the connections that we make with others and with ourselves. If we get lost in the small detail, it is like having missing pieces to a puzzle.
How are we supposed to solve that? Imagine what would have happened if Henry Ford only saw the small details. When building the company that Ford is today, he knew that he must do something different if his company was to succeed. After many people told him it couldn’t be done, his company continued improving upon the smaller details until they got it right. Henry Ford didn’t focus too much on the small details, which were the hundreds of times he failed; he saw the overall goal and knew that it could be accomplished. It required seeing the bigger picture to make it happen.
5. They don’t multitask. Multitasking is typically viewed as a skill that only certain people possess. But truth be told, nobody actually has the ability to multitask.
Multitasking is known to actually decrease productivity. Those who are successful focus on one specific task and do that task to the best of their ability without interruption. When you multitask, you limit your ability to fully focus on one specific task at a time. Successful people utilize the talents and abilities that they have by focusing it on one task and one task only. Emma Watson said, “I just dropped my iPhone in my soup. I think it might be time to tone down the multitasking..” This demonstrates how destructive multitasking is highlighting the fact that when we multitask, we are greatly limiting ourselves.
6. They don’t lie to themselves. Lying to yourself is one of the easiest things for you to do. It is much more difficult to accept the problems that we have without make excuses for them. Successful people understand that we will encounter problems, both internally and externally.
But it is important to accept the problems that reside in our lives, rather than not dealing with them and lying to ourselves about them.As Steve Maraboli said, “Stop lying to yourself. When we deny our own truth, we deny our own potential.”
7. They don’t procrastinate in asking for feedback. Feedback is important, because it gives you a different perspective on your current situation. Sometimes you are not able to see the answer that is right in front of you. But when someone gives you feedback, it allows you to see something from the perspective of someone else.
If you procrastinate asking someone for feedback, you are missing out on time that could be put towards accomplishing your dreams. The longer you wait, the harder it is to utilize advice that others can give you. “I think It’s very important to have a feedback loop, where you´re constantly thinking about what you’ve done and how you could be doing it better,” entrepreneur Elon Musk once said.
8. They don’t follow, they lead. You have probably heard the phrase “lead, follow or get out of the way.” There are two types of people in this world: leaders and followers. The ones who are successful are the ones who are leading the pack. Successful people are not successful because they got there by chance. They did not follow somebody to the finish line. They paved their own path in life to get where they needed to be. Just as the great Robert Frost stated, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”
9. They don’t let the past dictate their future. The past is something that we will never change, nor should we want to change it; because without it, we would not have learned the lessons we needed to learn. Therefore, we would wind up making the same mistakes over and over again until we learned the lesson that life is trying to teach us. At one time, businessman Shahid Khan washed dishes for $1.20 an hour. His humble background did not prevent him from thinking bigger though. With a net worth of $3.8 billion dollars, he now owns Flex-N-Gate, one of the largest private companies in the U.S., the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, and Premier League soccer club Fulham.
10. They don’t hang around negative people. Negative people are very destructive to be around when it comes to achieving success, because there are so many situations that life throws at us and causes us to get down on ourselves or our situation. But some people like to focus on this aspect of life the majority of the time. When you are around negative people enough, you start to see things negatively and you begin to lose sight of your dream. Success is more about mindset than anything, and if you always have a negative mindset, life will reward you with negative outcomes to deal with.
Joel Olsteen once said, “You cannot expect to live a positive life if you hang with negative people.” So if you wish you be successful, don’t focus on the negativity that others bring. To be successful requires focus and determination. It seems that every successful person follows similar patterns.
Therefore, it’s easy to see why they are where they are. They knew what they had to do in order to achieve their dreams and they didn’t let anyone or anything stop them from getting there. You have the power in yourself to become one of those successful people you admire and look up to. Everyone Is Talented In Their Own Way. We always think of intelligence as one entity. We think that scientists and academics are brainy and “intelligent” people. But if we put them in a bank, they may be at a loss for words when speaking to customers.
And what about the misconceptions about people engaged in less intelligible jobs such as waiting tables or telemarketing who are deemed “unintelligent? Try giving these people an empty canvas and watch them create a masterpiece for you with just a pencil. The point is, our perception of intelligence is skewed. Everything that seems out of our reach is automatically deemed as intelligent however on the contrary, according to psychologist, Howard Gardner, everyone is blessed with multiple types intelligence.
Do you want to be more successful? Many successful entrepreneurs share similar ideals and routines which play an intrinsic part in their success.
Here we look at 8 routines and beliefs successful entrepreneurs use every day.
,
1. They Have A Morning Routine Author Laura Vanderkam extensively studied the schedules of various high achievers. She found one thing that they had in common; they got up early, and almost all of them also had a morning routine. Richard Branson is also an advocate of embracing the morning. Getting up early has lots of benefits. You get the chance to be available and present before demands are made of you, and before you need to start working on your goals. This can improve your mood, as you feel in control of your life.
Getting up and completing your morning routine will help you to feel confident and in control, ready to handle the challenges that the day throws at you. How To Adjust Your Schedule: Consider scheduling tasks you would normally do in the evening in the morning instead. For instance, try exercising before you go to work to help you feel revitalized and productive.
2. They Don’t Panic When Things Go Slightly Wrong Many people start to feel stressed and anxious when things don’t go exactly to plan, but these things can happen on a daily basis. Successful people realize they cannot control everything, and anticipate mistakes. Dealing with problems is a big part of being a successful entrepreneur. Plan for mistakes, and you will deal with them rationally and efficiently as they arise.
How To Adjust Your Schedule: Factor In time every day to help you deal with any problems that arise. Half an hour at the end of your working day is ideal, as it means you can focus on the tasks you want to complete during the day.
3. They Work When They Don’t Have To First thing in the morning, the evenings and the weekend are all times that most people are not working. However, you could be wasting your productivity. Many successful entrepreneurs will work whenever inspiration strikes, as they know they will be more productive then than later. If you have a great pitch for work, strike while the iron is hot and get working – even if you’re not in work. How To Adjust Your Schedule: Plan two hours work you will do during your free time, from replying to emails to making important calls. This will help you to get ahead and stay ahead.
4. They Do Important Work First Many people arrive at the office and start their day with the little tasks, like emailing and admin. However, our brains are sharpest earlier in the day, so this is the best time to tackle the more creative work that challenges you.
If you don’t get the opportunity to work on your chosen tasks first thing, take matters into your own hands; do the work from home, or come into work early. How To Adjust Your Schedule: Set your schedule for the next day while you are still at work. Plan your most important tasks for first thing in the morning, and then respond to your emails before lunch to guarantee a productive day.
5. They Keep Their Full Schedules In One Place “It’s crucial to make sure you record all your meetings and appointments in one place instead of having them scattered throughout different calendars, notebooks, and apps,” says Alexandra Weiss, a partner at CA Creative in New York. Instead of planning parts of your schedule on your phone, laptop, work computer and notepad, gather everything together on one device. It won’t seem intimidating – it will seem clearer and easier for you to understand. You don’t have to worry about fitting everything in, as you can see your full schedule and arrange it as you please.
How To Adjust Your Schedule: Choose the device you are most comfortable with and use the most, whether it is your smartphone or a notebook. Keep it on you all day while you are at work, so you can adjust your plans accordingly throughout the day.
6. They Understand Teamwork Many of the most successful companies in the world were started with teamwork; Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Apple was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, and Paypal was started by a team of five. Being successful is rarely about being completely independent – successful people are able to work with others, able to compromise, and accept other ideas. How To Adjust Your Schedule: If you work in a team alongside others, schedule an email chain with your coworkers. Make a note to email your co-workers at lunchtime if you do work on a project for feedback. This will help your team to feel involved, encouraging them to share their opinions and get involved.
7. They Take Their Work Seriously Successful entrepreneurs truly believe in their work and see value in what they do. It is difficult to work productively and become successful if you don’t believe in your work. It is important to stay motivated and not to get side tracked by people who don’t believe in you – remember that if you believe in your work, you shouldn’t need the reassurance of others. How To Adjust Your Schedule: At the end of your working week, set aside half an hour to review your goals and dreams, and see how you are progressing towards them. This will help you to achieve your goals, but more importantly – it will encourage you to truly believe in your goals.
8. They Relax When They Are Done Worrying about work while you’re not there can run you down, and actually make you less productive when you start again. Author Tim Ferris recommends writing down your working goal for tomorrow when you finish work, as this will help you to feel motivated for the next day – so you can actually switch off for now, and enjoy your evening.
How To Adjust Your Schedule: Write down three goals you want to achieve during your next working day. Write down how you will achieve them too, as this will help you to feel focused, so you can switch off and enjoy your down time.
8 Things Successful People Sacrifice For Their Success Four years ago, I went through one of the most difficult times of my life. I’d recently given birth to my third child. I was breastfeeding up to 6 times in a night. My husband was working night shifts. I was also trying to get my writing career off the ground. I would often feed my daughter and type with the other hand. I had broken sleep for months on end and still took my other two children to school on time. I made many sacrifices to follow my dreams. And every single one of them have paid off in the end. If I hadn’t made those sacrifices, my writing career wouldn’t be where it is today. In order to achieve what we really want in life, we have to make sacrifices. Here are 8 things successful people sacrifice for their success.
1. Time
I am often asked how I juggle being a mother of three young kids, with work and study. I often jokingly respond with, “Lots of coffee.” But in reality, it’s how I make use of time. Truth is, there are so many things to do in a day – it’s not about having enough time, it’s about making use of your time. We all have the same 24 hours and we all have the opportunity to use our time wisely.
When we sacrifice time, we’re prioritising a certain task over another one. That task and all the others we accomplish – are the key to our success.
I write to-do lists every day and I stick to them. I set my own deadlines. I try my best not to procrastinate. But if I do, I don’t beat myself up about it. Negative self-talk and thinking, “I wish I had more time” simply takes away the time you still have! You can think, “I only have 20 minutes to do my work.” or you can think more positively, “I have 20 minutes to do my work.
If I use this time wisely, I’ll be 20 minutes closer to finishing the task.” If we don’t make better use of our time and achieve our small goals, then we’ll never achieve the bigger ones that are most important to us.
2. Stability My family has always been on one main source of income. Although my writing pays, it doesn’t provide us with the stability of a second income that we require. In order to follow my dreams, we are sacrificing stability and leaving ourselves with unpredictability. There are weeks in which we earn more money than others. There are weeks in which I have no articles to write and others in which I have two to write several every day.
It’s not the most ideal way to live your life, but it’s a sacrifice I have to make to move my career forward. Successful people have to deal with instability, financial or otherwise, and their life can feel like a rollercoaster. But the good news is, roller coasters go down but they also come back up. If we don’t risk instability, we’re giving up the chance to make our lives better.
3. Personal life I have been happily married for almost 12 years, but we’ve had our challenges. There are times where I have sacrificed time with my husband to finish an article on time. There are times where I postpone a playdate with another mother to a more convenient time. When we are determined to succeed, we have to make changes in our personal lives – in our friendships and our relationships. It’s not about neglecting your loved ones – it’s about working around your personal life.
Each one of us has their responsibilities and sometimes we simply have to compromise with other people. If we don’t learn to say ‘no’ or give up a night out with friends to study/work, we are the ones who suffer. These are the moments in our life when we have to think of our needs, be sensitive to our loved ones’ feelings and hope that they’ll understand that we need to do what’s best for us.
4. Sleep There are nights in which I plan to take a break from writing and I fall asleep on the couch. As much as I’d love to be in bed cuddling with my husband, I know that things will not be like this forever. When I’ve had a much needed nap, I wake up feeling very refreshed. It’s late at night, everybody is asleep and I’m feeling energised. Some nights I really push myself but I always try my best to sleep 6 hours a night. And if I can’t, I make up for it another night.
Sometimes, no matter how productive you are during the day, you need those extra hours at night. Without those extra periods of peace and quiet, you may not be able to get everything done. For those wanting to achieve success, the rewarding feeling they get when they’ve accomplished their task always makes the reduced amount of sleep worth it.
5. Health
The reality is, when we’re determined to achieve our goals, we might start to neglect our bodies and our minds. We start to eat less healthy, do less exercise or maybe reduce it to none at all, we might even put our emotional and mental health at risk. It may not be the most ideal thing to do, but those determined to be successful know that it’s only a temporary solution. We may not be able to put our full attention into our physical, mental and emotional health but we have to be aware of when our body is being overworked. Successful people may start to neglect parts of their life in order to improve other parts of their life. But this can only last for a while. Sooner or later you have to live a healthier life or you’ll regret it in the future.
6. Quiet times My life is pretty jam packed at the moment. I’m often rushing around trying to fit everything in. My husband and I want to move to a bigger house. We want to give our kids more room to play in, more room to entertain their friends, a more comfortable house for them to grow up in. So this is why my life is so busy at the moment.
I work from home to support my husband’s income. I study from home so when our kids are at school fulltime next year, I can have the qualifications to look for a job. I always keep in mind that I need to cherish the moment, but I know that I need to plan for the future as well. Successful people know that the busyness will not last forever.
7. Sanity There are days when I’m feeling more stressed, tired and overworked than on others. There are days when I question whether what I’m doing is really worth it. But I know it is. Working hard towards our big goals in life was never meant to be easy. These goals and aspirations for the future are meant to test us, challenge us, and help us to realise how badly we really want them. Maybe your family and friends call you crazy for working so hard. But you need to do what’s right for you. Don’t forget to take breaks, to relax when you really need to, to take time out for yourself. But know that in those temporary crazy moments, you are a step closer to having what you truly want.
8. Immediate desires There are so many things that each of us wants right now. Things that might encourage us to procrastinate when we really shouldn’t. We might want to do something simple like check our Facebook feed. We might want to do something more significant like buy a new car. But the question is – what is most important to us? We have to make the choice between our immediate desires and the needs that will propel our dreams forward.
Fact is, it’s not wrong of us to have these immediate desires, these temptations to choose the ‘easier’ option’. It’s normal to feel that way. However, when we sacrifice what we want right now, we are saving our time and energy for something more important. Something that will bring us one step closer to our real goals. Something we truly want, not just something we want right now.
Maybe we don’t want to sacrifice our time, stability, personal life, sleep, health, stillness and sanity. Maybe it just feels too difficult. But I’ll tell you right now, I’ve sacrificed every one of these things at one point or another. I wouldn’t have gone from writing on a personal blog to working as a freelance writer/journalist, if I had chosen the easier option. I wouldn’t have grown as a person if I hadn’t made those sacrifices either. If you want to be successful and achieve what you really want in life, you’ll have to make sacrifices. But when you reach the end of that mountain, you’ll be so very glad that you never gave up the journey.
This Is How You Become Unattractive And You're Not
Aware of It
Everyone strives to be a great person, kind, caring, and compassionate. But for some people, that’s not always the case. There are many behaviors or ‘bad habits’ that people have that make them seem unattractive, annoying, or someone that no one wants to be around with. A few of these harmful characteristics are offered for you below, and if you happen to realize that you embody any of them – quit! You might find your circle of friends grow once you do.
1. You are Self-Absorbed
Many people do this without realizing it. You focus solely on yourself, talk only about yourself, and often don’t care what others around you have to say. You think you’re the only one that matters. If this is you, it’s time to change. No one wants to be friend with someone who only cares about themselves.
2. You Focus on Outer Beauty, Ignoring What’s Inside
Surprisingly, true beauty comes from within your heart, body, and soul. Your physical appearance isn’t something that matters the most, but people with unattractive behaviors think that outer beauty is all that matters. Take a look in the mirror – deep within yourself – and you might see what lies beneath. An ugly person. Unless you change your way of thinking.
3. You are Always in Competition
Are you the person who has to be better than everyone else, see more, do more? If so, you’re an unattractive person. You should care more about your friends, and let them have their moment. If they overcame their fear of heights and climbed 10 feet in the air, don’t say, “That’s all? I’ve climbed 30 feet!” Instead say, “Wow! That’s awesome. I’m really proud of you.”
4. You View Your Friends as Enemies
People who are seen as unattractive are often in fights with their friends. Instead of banning together and truly being able to care for others, you’re always turning your back, and stabbing them in theirs. Your friends are not your enemies. They are your allies.
5. You Question Your Importance to Others
You are definitely an unattractive person when you constantly question why others don’t see you as important as you think they should. For instance, your two friends went somewhere without you – it doesn’t matter to them – but to you it does. Get over it. They’re still your friend, and their lives don’t stop when you’re not around.
6. You are the Boss
In a group of friends, everyone should be on an equal playing field. If you’re the one always making decisions, constantly needing to be in charge, or trying to control what others are doing, you’re acting in an unattractive way.
7. You are Dishonest
When it comes to being a great friend, or someone whom others want to be around, you need to be honest. Many people who partake in ugly behaviors are often dishonest, lying about everything, inquiring about every question asked about them, and how they truly feel about different things. Yes, honesty is the best policy.
8. You are Rude
If you’re the person that’s frequently impolite, offensive, or embarrassing your friends with your rude comments in public – quit. You’re not someone people would want to be around. There are going to be times when you don’t agree with someone, or see something you didn’t want to see, but there’s no point in making a scene, because you’re making everyone look at your terrible behavior and they’re not seeing what you’re seeing.
9. You are Unreliable, Yet Dependent Upon Others
Are you there when your friends call for help? Or are you always busy when someone needs you? If you’re
the person no one can count on, that’s an unattractive quality in friendships. Similarly, if you’re the one
always calling for help from others, yet never offering yours when they need it, that’s another unattractive
quality that no one wants in a friend.
10. You are Always Negative
Pessimism is not an attractive quality. If you’re constantly putting things down, or seeing situations in a
negative light, try and change your attitude. Nobody wants to be friends with someone who’s constantly
seeing the negative instead of the positive.
15 Small Things Successful People Do Every Day
There are certain people that come to your mind when you think about success. Perhaps they are people
like Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, or Larry Page. Yet the frenzy around these people can be so noisy that you start
getting bewildered on what it actually takes to achieve success. The truth is that what successful people do
daily, the things that define them, are actually discreet and little actions. Here are fifteen small things
successful people do every day:
1. They focus on being productive rather than being busy
According to Tim Ferris, the author of the The 4-Hour Workweek, “Slow down and remember this: Most
things make no difference. Being busy is often a form of mental laziness – lazy thinking and indiscriminate
action.”
2. They wake up early
Sergio Marchionne, the CEO of Fiat and Chrysler, wakes up as early as 3:30am to deal with the European
market. Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple Inc., starts his day as early as 4:30am to send emails. Jeffrey Immelt,
the CEO of General Electric, says he wakes up by 5:30am for his daily workout routine.
3. They focus on being with the best team
Renowned basketball coach Phil Jackson said, “The strength of the team is each individual member. The
strength of each member is the team.” Successful people know that they have to be with people who will
complement them. Company and management expert Ken Blanchard says, “None of us is as smart as all of
us.”
4. They focus on making small and continuous improvements
There is a concept that you cannot eat an elephant all at once. You have to take it one bit at a time. Henry
Ford once said, “Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small pieces.”
5. They meditate
According to Oprah Winfrey on meditation, “the results have been awesome. Better sleep. Improved
relationships with spouses, children, coworkers. Some people who once suffered migraines don’t anymore.
Greater productivity and creativity all around.” Successful people take time to meditate. The founder of Def
Jam, Russell Simmons, says Transcendental meditation changed his life.
6. They take care of their bodies
Regular exercise doesn’t only keep the body physically healthy, but also helps with your mental state. The
chief of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Frits van Paasschen, starts at 6am and runs 10 miles per day. President
Barack Obama runs 3 miles or exercises 45 minutes per day, six days a week.
7. They have balanced lives
To achieve wonderful things in life, you need to maintain balance. Successful people keep a balance with
making money, spending time with their family and loved ones, and achieving personal goals.
8. They focus on the positive
In his book, The Happiness Advantage, Shawn Achor explains that a recent scientific study showed that
doctors who are put in a positive mood before making a diagnosis consistently experience significant boosts
to their intellectual abilities compared with doctors in a neutral state. Because of this, they are able to make
accurate diagnoses almost 20% faster. Successful people are always optimistic about situations.
9. They keep track of their progress
Eminem, Oprah Winfrey, and J.K Rowling all keep journals. They are able to keep track of their progress, set
goals, reflect, and learn from their mistakes. They understand that they need a map to accomplish great things.
Sometimes, this notebook or journal is the map they need
.
10. They create their success
They understand that they are responsible for their success and that good luck is not something that magically
happens. They know that you have to earn the right to be successful. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
states, “You are the master of your destiny.” You can influence, direct, and control your own environment.
You can make your life what you want it to be.
11. They have successful friends
According to Jim Rohn, you are the average of your five closest friends. Successful people know this, and that
is why they keep company with mentors and other successful people. In Tribes by Seth Godin, you are
encouraged to find your tribe and make a difference in all of your lives.
12. They inspire others to be successful
as well
Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs had a way of helping others to cultivate their creativity. According to Steve
Jobs, “Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a
little guilty because they didn’t really do it; they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while.”
13. They have a consistent schedule
Rameet Chawla, founder of Fueled, believes a consistent schedule helps with prioritization and focusing on
what is important. With a consistent schedule, you are better driven to achieve success.
14. They have a detailed plan
Before leaving the office at night, Kenneth Chenault, CEO of American Express, writes down top three things
he wants to accomplish the next day. He begins each day with this list.
15. They never procrastinate or make excuses
Mark Twain once said, “Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the
rest of the day.” Successful people do not take chances, they take action and get the tough assignments done
first
.
11 Things Successful People Do By Age 30
Success is not something easily attained, and you can’t expect it to happen overnight. It requires a particular
mindset, determination, and of course hard work. Simply wanting to succeed is not enough. It is also worth
mentioning that you should start working on your success as soon as possible.
The ideal time period for your career development should be after you graduate, while you are in your
twenties.
You are still vibrant, filled with positive energy, and you have a lot of time on your hands, to
experiment, learn from your mistakes, and accumulate a certain dose of experience. Truth be told, people may
not take you seriously while you are still young, but there are some things that one should definitely do before
the age of thirty. This way, you can create a solid basis and gain the valuable insight necessary for the wellbeing of your future.
1. They learned how to handle their finances
Let’s tackle the obvious issue first. We all know that, in a majority of cases, success is measured in finances,
or financial stability to be perfectly accurate. This is why our first jobs are important, even when our salary is
a far cry from the one that we imagined, we need to make it suffice.
It is how we learn to be responsible, and
to use money for the items we need, not for the items we want. Spending money comes natural to us, and even
if we are wealthy, becoming broke will be an issue if we spend more than we earn. The more we practice this
control, the easier it will be for us to accumulate enough finances and make judicious investments in order to
succeed.
2. They knew how to fail faster
A terrific way to save yourself a lot of money as well as troubles is to learn how to fail faster. We all know
that failure is inevitable in life, and the only true failure is the one when you do not learn anything afterwards.
However, knowing when you are about to botch an attempt at something and backing off sooner can be
extremely important. You save your finances, and you spare yourself a lot of stress.
If you are hell bent on succeeding and keep on pushing only to prove others wrong, you will only end up
being defeated more miserably. Once again, there is no shame in failing, all you need to do is learn how to do
it faster, which will ultimately lead you to success more quickly.
3. They started their own business
One thing you should do in your late twenties is to start taking charge and form your own line of work. Just
like with finances that were mentioned above, this is a great opportunity to tackle more responsibilities.
Additionally, you finally take on the mantel of authority, and see what it feels like when you have to make
hard decisions.
Being in charge of your own small company is an eye-opening experience, and trust me, you will have a lot
more sympathy for those who were your boss at some point. We tend to complain, and call our superior
insensitive, and give them bully-like attributes. Once you know what is required to get the job done right, you
are going to see what kind of method it takes to obtain the desired results.
Even if you end up losing in the end, you need to learn what you can salvage from the whole ordeal, and
perhaps start over with newly found wisdom. And, as it was already mentioned, if your business is heading
towards disaster, shut it down as soon as possible. Remember, learn to fail faster.
4. They challenged the authority
Becoming rebellious is our innate ability. We start to challenge authority during our puberty, and this
challenge takes various forms. For example, we start listening to different types of music, sometimes out of
sheer spite, just to annoy our parents.
We drink alcohol or even start smoking cigarettes, although nowadays
this has shifted to vaping. Even though we know these things are harmful, we do it anyway, simply to show
they are not as harmful as we are told. We establish our own identities, by showing how we don’t blindly trust
everything we are told.
This is a good trait, you should question everything, especially if it sounds too convenient. When you are fully
convicted that something is wrong, or that you simply know a better way to do it, stand up for the idea. It is
one of the key ingredients for success, knowing to do something better than your competition, and taking
charge.
Throughout history, people who made groundbreaking discoveries, did so by questioning what was presented
to them as universal truth. Nicolaus Copernicus made a very courageous move, when he challenged the thesis
that earth is in the center of the universe, and had a theory which was contradictory to what church wanted
people to believe. A great example how we shouldn’t allow our fear to prevent us from challenging a flawed
leadership.
5. They organized properly
If there is one thing successful people have in common, it is a busy schedule. We’ve seen in movies mostly
how people caught up in work usually have an assistant that keeps track of all of their appointments and
responsibilities.
Well, you may not have that many appointments, but still, there is a busy life ahead of you,
and if you are to preserver, you will need to know how to organize properly.
The very essence of good organization lies in knowing how to prioritize your aspects in life. The transitional
period between a party animal and a mature adult is the hardest part. When you start putting all of the social
gatherings on hold and begin to give your job a higher priority, is the moment when you are taking a serious
step towards good organization. However, if you are unwilling to make such a sacrifice, then don’t expect to
see positive results, any time soon.
6. They maintained important partnerships
It is good to be independent and show everyone how you can manage things on your own. After all, food,
water and oxygen are the only necessities needed to sustain you in life. But, if you are to be successful, you
need to think before you act, and be careful about what you say.
As individuals, we tend to have differences in opinion and our disagreements take a form of fiery arguments.
Due to these arguments, we are prone to excluding some people from our lives merely because our
perspectives are incompatible.
Unfortunately, that is a wrong approach, because you lose the opportunity to give someone respect regardless
of your differences, and gain their respect in return. This kind of reaction can make the existing bond grow
stronger and you can acquire valuable allies. When you have more people you can rely on, it is easier to deal
with stressful situations.
In order to maintain your partnerships, do not back off from doing someone a favour if it doesn’t cause you
too much trouble. You can never be too sure whether you might need to ask for one yourself, learn to value
your social bonds and connections, it is what prosperous people know how to do.
7. They relied on persistence
Accomplished individuals are no strangers to failure, but they are also experts on not giving up after suffering
a defeat. When things go south, we get insecure, we start to doubt, we become afraid if anyone is ever going
to take us seriously. Instead of dwelling on the idea how foolish we looked, we need to view our failure from
all possible angles and get encouraged to try again. We need to do this over and over again until we pinpoint
the most efficient methods.
Bear in mind that even trying too hard is not always an efficient way – you need to be persistent at working
around the problem as well. If there is something you do not know how to solve, do not take shots in the dark
until you hit the target
. Learn how to browse the web and find possible solutions for your problems. It may
feel like doing what someone else tells you, but it’s not. The whole point of advancement is quickly learning
what is proven to work so far, and keep trying to make those methods better.
8. They actively worked on their flaws
By the age of 30, we are more or less fully aware of what kind of person we are. We have a clear idea as to
what exactly the people we know don’t like about us, but still agree to tolerate, since we do the same for them.
Even though we have these unspoken agreements with our close ones, it is still not an excuse for not trying to
improve as a person.
We are bombarded with various motivational posters, saying “My flaws are who I am”, or “Be yourself no
matter what” etc. however, it is obvious that you’ll need to let go of these mottos sooner or later. There is
nothing wrong with accepting yourself, and being yourself, but if when doing so you are only hindering your
own progression, then there is no logic in such approach. Work on your flaw, so that you can be proud of
yourself.
9. They became calculated and resourceful
Basically, this means that you rely on a leap of faith only as a last resort – your future decisions need to
heavily rely on thorough research and planning. We all know how the very paragons of success like Steve
Jobs, Bill Gates, Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison etc.
were sort of castaways, distinctively
different from the lot, and some of them even ran away from school. However, if you choose to be different,
or choose to skip school in order to feel closer to them, then you are not a very calculated individual.
Mimicking someone who is smart and successful is not the same as being that person – truthfully you are only
a wannabe.
Calculated and resourceful individuals work with knowing their options, and they also make efforts in order to
create additional options should a need for them ever arise. They do not spend money immediately, until they
have looked at all the possible cheaper alternatives. Remember, the best methods are those which yield the
most satisfying results with the least invested resources.
10. They figured out how to adapt
Doing what you love and earning for a living at the same time is an ideal life scenario. You are not bothered
by your obligations too much, and you get to excel in your chosen field. Unfortunately, this is not always an
option, and very often, the market is filled with your desired careers or, simply, what you can produce is not
in demand. In other words, you can be quite skilful and talented at something, but without the ability to adapt,
you will not be successful.
Knowing how to adapt, does not imply that you abandon your governing passions, it only implies that you
find what you learned from them and apply that knowledge somewhere else.
For example, if you know psychology, you can use what you’ve learned from your studies and try to excel
faster doing a job of a project manager.
Or, if you are greatly acquainted with the law, you can use the
knowledge in the writing department and make an interesting drama revolving around the trial. These are just
examples, but the basic idea behind this adaptability is to find the way to fully utilize what you already know.
11. They asked for second opinion
Finally, the last thing crucial for a stable future is accepting the fact that you are not the most competent,
skilful, or smartest person in the world. Regardless of how brilliant or how acknowledged you were in the
past, always look for constructive feedback. After all, people won’t just throw their money at you, they expect
some sort of service or product in return. Therefore, it is not important if you think the product is great, as
much as it is important for your target audience to like it
